...About the Cayman Islands. They are 3 beautiful little islands, situated in the middle of the Caribbean in between Jamaica and Cuba. Originally discovered by Christopher Columbus after seeing Turtles nearby. The Main Island and home to the Capital George Town is Grand Cayman. This is where most people visiting the Cayman Islands will come to weather it be by plane or cruise ship.Further out of town but not to far is the beautiful Seven Mile Beach. The Cayman Islands are sat on top of an inactive volcano which means diving is great. The climate is tropical so it's warm all year round. The summer months also mean the start of hurricane season when the island can be subject to high waves and winds. ...We visited the Holiday Inn Resort Damai Beach whist on a package tour of Borneo. We stayed for 4 nights in May 2006. The hotel is located about 45 mins from the city centre - they is a mini bus which we take you in to the city. (if you veggie try "Thank Food Vegetarian" it's a chinese restaurant in kuching and so far the best meal ive eaten in my life. everything is veggie lots of mock meat things ) The hotel complex is quite big but the staff were genuinely pleased to help you. The reception staff were particularly friendly. If you want to put your bills on the room you need to give them your card details when you check in. It was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a room that was 100 metres from the beach - it was a huge room - very clean - in the welcome booklet it said you could use the hotels electric mozzie device... Advantages: Warm Waters and Warm people on shores; Aquamarine, deep waters; Lots of fish to keep you stimulated!

...had no problems at all. When we docked our boats at the local harbour visit the city, we did have to pay the fees. We made a point to tip the workers. We walked all over the town and never had any trouble with criminal types. Many say that various groups of people commit crimes on the island. We did not see any. I must add that when traveling abroad, one must always be alert and aware of your surroundings. The Cayman Islands is such a laidback place. You can find various communities of American, British, Canadian, and German expatriates there. I imagine they were once tourists who have since then fallen in love with the natural beauty of the country. Depending on whom you talk to, you will find out that things are not expensive at all. You will get a good value for your hard earned money. Then, comes morning, head out... Read review
