Advantages Close to M62. Wide range of facilities.
Disadvantages Robotic staff, boring rooms. Testosterone fueled bar.
Work can require me to visit the lovely world of West Yorkshire from time to time and the closest hotel to my office, happens to be the Cedar Court Huddersfield. I have stayed there once but wouldn’t rush back. The only thing going for it in my opinion is the closeness to the M62 and the cheap corporate rate!
ArrivalCheck In
Check in was straightforward if a little robotic. We were processed through, credit cards swiped and then given the key to our rooms. This key was extremely retro and of a large size making it difficult to keep in your pocket and felt more like you were carrying around a big white elephant with you!
The bathroom again was rather traditional but the shower did have good water pressure. Toiletries were minimal with shower gel, shampoo and a bar of soap.
Sleep that night was rather restless. The room was very hot and if you were to open the window you would be greeted by the road noise from outside. The double bed was also quite lumpy and I’m sure you could see straight through the pillows! So it was really a lose lose situation. The room was not up to my standards and it was only after my stay was I advised that the rooms on the higher floors had been refurbished and were a little more modern. My colleague however still wasn’t ‘wowed’ by this room either.
Restaurant/BarFacilities
The hotel caters for conference and banquets with the function rooms and also has an on site gym, pool and spa. Again I did not experience any of these aspects so I cannot comment on them but from what I understand the pool is quite good.
