Our Center Parcs Experience

Advantages: fun, lots to do
Disadvantages: expensive!

I have been to Center Parcs several times but hadn't been for a while and since my last visit it has altered a little but still just as much fun as I remembered it to be. I thought I should review it as people who have never been are always asking me what it's like and whether it's worth it.

The basic idea of Center Parcs is to have an active holiday where you try things you may never usually get round to doing without having to go ...
...We went to the Nottingham Center Parcs and we found that the directions on the website were fairly easy to follow and so we found it without too much of a problem. Once we'd turned into the park we then drove down the long driveway until we reached the queue. Because you can only check in on Fridays and Mondays there is always quite a large queue of cars with everyone arriving all at once. We didn't have to wait too long though, I would say no more ... more

The best action packed holiday!

Advantages: see review

I go to Center Parcs every year with my family, if I had more money I would go more often than that as it is such a great change. My main reason for liking Center Parcs is that it's a holiday like no other. Usually when I go away I want to relax and find myself going on strolls and finding interesting places to eat and sit by the pool reading. At Center parcs though I am just the opposite. Center Parcs is an action-packed holiday. It is geared towards ...
...cycle ride from the main center early in the morning. I say early, it was about 9am, and then had an hour on the horses. It was very well organised with the staff being extremely equipped to size people up with the horse and the lead us down the fields. It was a very calming, laidback experience with the horses being veryw ell behaved and the scenery we went through being stunning. === Swimming === This is the only free activity here. It is not ...

Center Parcs Sherwood Forest Is In The Doghouse

Advantages: You can leave.
Disadvantages: Noisy, expensive, not dog friendly at all.

A warning to dog owners regarding Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. Last year we decided to choose Center Parcs for our holiday destination as we have a dog and the Sherwood Forest park was billed as extremely dog friendly. On arrival, we drove up to our lodge to unpack the car. The 'secluded' lodge was approximately 4 inches from the one next door, and the 'private' area at the back looked directly into the window of the lodge opposite. Although we were a bit peeved we decided that wasn't so bad, and we could live with it. Once we were settled, we walked our dog to the designated exercise area so she could have some off-lead time as it had been a long car journey to get there and she would need a proper stretch and run. Considering the site is in the middle of a forest, you would expect a lovely spacious area for dogs to run ...

Family trip to Center Parcs at Sherwood Forest

Advantages: Lots to do, or do as little as you like
Disadvantages: Added extras can mean a lot of extra money

My wife, 4 year old daughter and Baby Son visited Center Parcs at Sherwood Forest for a five day holiday in January this year (2009). We travelled by car, which I would certainly recommend be the best form of transport for here - unless going with an organised holiday company by coach. We stayed in the lowest price "villa" on offer, and after managing to find a promotional code on the internet paid just £220. Friends of ours paid almost £800 for only a slightly higher specification of accommodation, so it is very important to look for the bargains. In Summer though, the prices are much higher. We travelled by car, which would I certainly recommend be the best form of transport for here - unless going with an organised holiday company by coach. Our accommodation at that price was in fact very reasonable, with 2 separate bedrooms ...

Review of Center Parcs

Toddlers love Center Parcs (Sherwood Forest)

Advantages: peaceful, relaxing, good facilities and family friendly
Disadvantages: expensive, lots of walking/cycling, things book up fast

jars and there are microwaves to warm milk/food etc. Lots of highchairs. SPA Finally, the bit for you - after all the running around, book yourself into a spa. Although Center Parcs do have babysitters available (£5.50 an hour) we prefer not to use them as our kids are so young, so we went separately. I know it may seem strange, but no one bats an eyelid if you are alone. I brought a book - sat on the deckchair reading in my bath robe....had a swim...back to reading.......foot bath.....back to reading etc. It was great. As I was pregnant, there were only a couple of things I could do there - the foot spa, sensory showers, swimming and one of the rooms - but even so, still loved it! For three hours it's about £35 although if you're pregnant it only costs you £5 (!!!!) because you can't do much. You get provided ...
