Last year we decided to choose Center Parcs for our holiday destination as we have a dog and the Sherwood Forest park was billed as extremely dog friendly. On arrival, we drove up to our lodge to unpack the car. The 'secluded' lodge was approximately 4 inches from the one next door, and the 'private' area at the back looked directly into the window of the lodge opposite. Although we were a bit peeved we decided that wasn't so bad, and we could live with it. Once we were settled, we walked our dog to the designated exercise area so she could have some off-lead time as it had been a long car journey to get there and she would need a proper stretch and run. Considering the site is in the middle of a forest, you would expect a lovely spacious area for dogs to run, especially when a place is described as being dog friendly, yes? Imagine our horror when we discovered the 'off-lead' area was a fenced in grass square, approximately 18 x 18 feet, and absolutely covered in dog faeces. We were absolutely disgusted.
After complaining, we were told that there was a park were we could exercise our dog about a mile down the road from the actual site. If this information had been disclosed in the brochure, we would never have booked. Another couple overheard us complaining and said they had also brought their dog and were having to exercise him at the park off-site.
That wasn't for us, particularly after paying so much money. We stayed one night only and left the following morning. All three of us were delighted to get home, especially the dog.
CP is advertised for a short break for people, nowhere do they "sell" it as a place for dogs. I dont like stepping in dog mess nor do I want my children too. Many dog owners do not scoop!!!. I say close the dog toilets and ban dogs, thats why there are kennels

Glad you've told us - we looked at going there but luckily we couldn't afford their prices so we went camping instead! Much more fun and the Piggy had a great time!

Advantages: Fabulous for families with children. Disadvantages: Due to poor availability, you may not get a choice of where on the complex you are to stay.
