Location:
The hotel it's situated in the north part of the Bucharest, which it's the nicest are and, of course, the most expensive. There is a lot of greenery here, lots of parks and lakes. The hotel is situated on the shore of Tei Lake and the vegetation around it really gives it a very nice look. Both airports in Bucharest are in the north part so the hotel it's only 10 minutes away from the Baneasa Airport (used more by low cost companies) and about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the traffic, to the Otopeni Airport (commercial airlines).
Very good location, however be aware that public transportation is not handy. To go and come from the hotel you will most likely have to use a taxi, which can be costly at times, depending on the distance. Make sure you ask the reception to call a company cab for you, private taxi are a rip off ...
Advantages: Lots to see and do, loads of cultural and historical stuff, fairly cheap Disadvantages: Traffic, lots of concrete
Piata Unirii is about as central a location as you can pinpoint in Bucharest; it's a huge, sprawling city (it has a population of around 2.6 million) with sights spread out in different areas. You need to use public transport or put on your walking shoes to make the most of your time there.
There is a useful underground station under Piata Unirii but check the names of the exits as you come out of the station otherwise you will come out of the wrong exit and have many roads to cross. It's much easier to stay underground and avoid the roads. Using this station can be quite daunting but if you are traveling independently you are likely to use it at some point because a number of sights are nearby. If you think Kings Cross is confusing, you will have a headache by the time you get out of this station! You can buy joint tickets for buses ...
Advantages: Superb location, comfortable accomodation, helpful staff Disadvantages: No major disadvantages to the actual hotel itself
In "the city that never sleeps," especially if you're visiting for the first time, it's all about site-seeing, shopping, and taking advantage of New York's endless amount of restuarants. So when choosing a hotel, it's all about location!
I took my first ever visit to New York (and certainly not my last, taking into consideration the amazing time I had there) in February 2007, for a school trip, and stayed in Park CentralHotel.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I was delighted when we first arrived at the Park Centralhotel - the immaculate lobby and reception area, with brown leather sofas and sparkling floor tiles, was classy and modern. We were greeted by friendly staff who gave us our room keys, and we went off up the lifts (we didn't fancy taking the stairs, having being accomodated on numerous floors up the building!) to our room ...
