The Central Market is very near Chinatown (about 10 minutes away), so you should go to these two places on the same day.
How to get there:

It is a very interesting place especially for tourists because over here, you can buy special souvenirs. There are also a few shops selling Selangor Pewter.
There are also lots of local snacks on sale. It's a very touristy place so things are not very cheap. Remember to bargain when you buy something.
Also, beware of pickpockets !!!!
There's nothing much to say about this place really. I don't personally like this place because I think it is too touristy and I prefer to go to where the locals go. Go there if you really want to see some traditional performances or want to buy special souvenirs. But for me, I prefer Chinatown where I can most of the same stuff at a cheaper price.
Tip: If you want to see cultural performance, go to the reception desk to ask for more details. Then, decide which one you want to see. Most performances are in the evenings or Saturdays, so you should plan in advance.

Next to Central Market is a bus station so there are many buses that will bring you to Central Market. But, buses are not very convenient unless you know exactly the number of the bus going there and on buses, it is usually very crowded. You have to be aware of pickpockets all the time.

If you are visiting Malaysia there is one place you really must visit- The CentralMarket in KualaLumpur. Saved from demolition, the original art-deco style CentralMarket was converted into a fine "festive hall" and in 1986,reopened as Malaysia's foremost Cultural Shopping Centre showcasing the best local crafts and arts in the country.I always advise
overseas visitors to make a trip since there is a lot to see and do, all under one roof.
Located in the heart of KualaLumpur where the city was founded, bargains can certainly be found at this famous landmark. Today the CentralMarket houses more than 130 shops-some are little more than kiosks-coster carts, more than 30 food outlets,a cineplex, an exhibition corner (Sudat Pameran in Malay)- and an outdoor riverside ampitheatre with free cultural performances.
On the ground floor you ...
Advantages: Culture,shopping,bric-a-brac all under one roof. Disadvantages: Touristy. Can get crowded.
The art deco style CentralMarket in KualaLumpur was built in 1928 and was a wet market for many years. It was then not used and fell into a dilapidated state.Fortunately some far sighted local residents saw its potential and the place was renovated extensively. Today it is a bustling,vibrant,bazaar-cum- centre for the arts and culural performances similar in concept to London's Covent Garden or Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.
I always recommend my friends from overseas to include a visit to the CentralMarket on their itinerary. It's an excellent place to buy objets'd'art, curios, inexpensive souvenirs and other bric-a-brac,there is always some cultural show going on and there are several book stores to browse in. The place has a good selection of restaurants ranging from Western food at the Riverbank, good Chinese cuisine ...
Advantages: English is widely spoken Disadvantages: Not Well Publicized
