The Central Market (Pasar Seni in the local language) was a wet market in central Kuala Lumpur about 50 years ago. Now, it has a proper building and is turned into a cultural tourist attraction site.
There are many cultural performances here and there are also activities such as batik painting. (Batik is a traditional Malay cloth from the northern states of Malaysia). Painting batik is a traditional art.
It is a very interesting place especially for tourists because over here, you can buy special souvenirs. There are also a few shops selling Selangor Pewter.
There are also lots of local snacks on sale. It's a very touristy place so things are not very cheap. Remember to bargain when you buy something.
Also, beware of pickpockets !!!!
There's nothing much to say about this place really. I don't personally like this place because I think it is too touristy and I prefer to go to where the locals go. Go there if you really want to see some traditional performances or want to buy special souvenirs. But for me, I prefer Chinatown where I can most of the same stuff at a cheaper price.
Tip: If you want to see cultural performance, go to the reception desk to ask for more details. Then, decide which one you want to see. Most performances are in the evenings or Saturdays, so you should plan in advance.
The Central Market is very near Chinatown (about 10 minutes away), so you should go to these two places on the same day.
How to get there:
1. Take STAR LRT to Pasar Rakyat and it is about 10 minutes' walk from the station to Central Market. You need to ask pedestrains for directions as it is too complicated to tell you here.
Or
2. Take PUTRA LRT to Pasar Seni and then when you exit the station, cross the road. Central Market is right in front of you.
Next to Central Market is a bus station so there are many buses that will bring you to Central Market. But, buses are not very convenient unless you know exactly the number of the bus going there and on buses, it is usually very crowded. You have to be aware of pickpockets all the time.

A nicely presented review. Did you manage to have your fortune told here or watch any of the shadow puppet plays. Although you didn't find it intersting I think I would find it fascinating and would have liked to read a bit more about it so if you do add any more at any time just drop me a note in my guestbook. Been there. Just like what you said, nothing much about this place.
