Advantages: Pleasant staff, good size room, cheap, quiet Disadvantages: breakfast
...I stayed in the Hotel centro when i went to Florence towards the end of 2006. It is located in a superb spot within walking distance from the station which was a first advantage.
The hotel itself is based upstairs over a supermarket which closes at around 10 at night and is down a quieter back street therefore it is a reasonably quiet street, meaning you get a good nights sleep.
On arrival you have to buzz in, so a receptionist, who are on 24 hours, can let you into the building. You go upstairs to the small reception desk. The 3 different receptionists that were on were all very pleasant and spoke both Italien and English which made checking in a very easy process. This took a couple of minutes and then i was directed to my room.
The room was a large room, with very high ceilings and 2 single beds. The room came with a tv...

Advantages: an enchanting place Disadvantages: none
...One of the lesser known attractions of Puerto de la Cruz, the resort in the north of Tenerife, is the Orchid Garden Sitio Litre. The mansion was built in 1730 and in 1774 the British merchant Archibald Little bought it together with a piece of land which he converted into a beautiful garden. Sitio is the Spanish word for site and the surname Little somehow changed into Litre. In 1856 the Vice Director of Bristol College, Charles Smith, purchased the property, his family owned the house until 1996, the mansion is still privately owned, but the garden has been opened to the public.
Together with the ticket the visitors get a brochure and a list of all the plants and their names (which is to be returned), number plates are stuck into the soil so that the visitors interested in botany can inform themselves. A map shows the lay...

The town of Palenque has grown in response to the tourist demand to visit the fabulous Mayan archeological ruins set amongst the jungle nearby. It is not an attractive town, with no great historical or architectural significance of its own other than its proximity to the archeological site. Shuttle buses run back and forth between the town and the site regularly for $10 (50p) and the journey takes about seven minutes. The town is also a handy base for exploring a number of picturesque waterfalls and the smaller Mayan sites of Bonampak and Yaxchillan (although these would be longer drives). Tours can be booked in the town, at the hotel or private transport can be hired. On the edge...
