The view is absolutely fantastic - a birds eye view of not only the Champs Elysees but of the whole of Paris strectching over to the Effiel Tower.
It certainly is a must-see when visiting Paris. Once you pull yourself away from the dizzy heights of the Arc de Triomphe - be prepared to shop til you drop on the Champs Elysees - and remember to pick your lower jaw up off the floor at the magnificant shops that are there to be seen and explored - everything you could want from perfumery shops, to clothing shops - to even shops and I say shops not garages - selling Peugeots and Mercedes! Also, eating out there is an absolute pleasure - DO NOT MISS Arnie and Bruce's Planet Hollywood - you could spend an afternoon there in awe of the collection of bit n pieces from various film stars collected over the years. Plenty to see and do there - the Champs Elysees is not to be missed!!!
Advantages: Wide, magnificent et beautiful (as the title suggests) Disadvantages: Quite long and so many attractions on the way so may take rather long time
Walking down the Champs Elysee in a sunny day is just the perfect thing to do in Paris.
We started from the other end of the Concord. It is uphill and you can just see l'arc de triumphe on the other side of hill and you just feel that you had to walk down there - a little experience of how Napoleon felt when he rode here (although the other way round!)
At the first half of the street there are not much but paths to parks at either side and I think ... ...down both sides of the road and it did remind me of London (can't remember its name but the one down to the parliament - I think).
Then shops starts to come on both sides - perfume shops, cafes, cinemas and even garages (of Peutgeot and Citron)! The one I loved most is the Peutgeot garage (believe it or not!) coz there was so many new designs of the cars in the future and they looked so nice I almost wanted to buy them (as if I had the money!). ...

Advantages: see it for yourself, there isn't enough room to type it all Disadvantages: cafes can be expensive - cost us £10 for sprite and coke!
Go to the Champs Elysees! You will love it. I went ast year for the first time and I plan to go every year for the rest of my life. Paris is wonderful but it is the Champs Elysees that makes it so good.
The shops are great, street cafes are wonderful (good for a nosy), the street is immaculate (they clean it night and day). If you can, stay at the Hotel California just off the Champs on Rue de Berri. It is an art gallery and hotel in one and is ... ...explain how impressed you will be with this incredible monument. I will never forget the first time I saw it - I was awestruck and quite moved by it's splendor.
Go to Paris, stay at the Hotel California and spend your nights sitting out in the Champs Elysees. Heavenly. ...

this is by far and away the most famous street in oaris. the top half starting at the arc de triomphe consists of hotels and massive shops (and of course mcdonalds - lots of them). it is a marvellous street and you can often see famous people there or films being made. further down the shops disappear and the street turns into a treee lined boulevard with small parks to either side, ther are ice cream vendors and crepe sellers and for a short time ...

Advantages: posh street Disadvantages: too expensive for student
went to paris 1 year ago with my gf. champs-elysees is quite an overrated place. excellent for shopping no doubt but not really for real tourists. since globalization, the brands here are no longer unique to champs-elysees. prices here are obviously too exorbitant for a student.
however, would recommend taking a walk down just for the experience. especially if u r nearby visiting the arc du triomphe. and i do recommend u walk further away from champ-elysees ... ...u r far enough. the view is pretty breathtaking, especially in the night.
although prices here are high, some of the restaurants are fairly reasonable in their prices. plus the ambience makes the eating experience worthwhile. however, if u're looking for a romantic dinner, this is not the place. simply too crowded and noisy for any romance. ...

Place de la concorde is a historic centre point to Paris. Standing at the opposite end of the ChampsElysees it is a site many visitors to Paris will see. However, it's history to me seems lost.
On my last visit to Paris I stayed near the Place de la Concorde and ended up waling around the place almost every day on my way to other places. Sadly, all the other places were more worthy of a visit.
History tells us this was a main centre of executions during the French Revolution. The guillotine dramatically dropped in this very square hundreds of times. The crowd cheered as class fought class and the underdog won. I challenge anybody to capture that sense of history hear now. Close your eyes (briefly please ... any longer would be dangerous!). Try hard to hear the crowd and see the guillotine slicing through the air and the neck. You ...
Advantages: Proximity to the Champs-Elysées Disadvantages: None
Located between the ChampsElysees and avenue Georges V, (Paris 8th) the hotel frontenac is a great place to stay. I stayed there last month, and I remember having booked the hotel on 123 France (http://www.123france.com/123/en/hotel.php?idhot=64).
The hotel is in front of Zegna and other fashion designers. The Eiffel Tower is a half hour walk and Concorde is something like 10 minutes.
The breakfast at the hotel was quite good, the service was above expectations and the amenities are ok given the location.
Close to the hotel, there is the Lido and it's famous cabaret. At the top of the Champs-Elysées, you will definitely have to go at the top of the Arch of Triumph : the view is priceless ! ...
I went to Paris for the weekend last summer with my girlfriend and had a great time. It soon became clear that almost every major attraction offers amazing panoramic views over Paris and the Arc de Triomphe is no exception. It is one of the most famous monuments in Paris and fronts many postcards.
The Arc de Triomphe is at the western end of the Champs-Elysees; a sight in itself. The arch is a tribute of respect to those that have fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic wars. It was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806; his work was taken on by Huyon in 1811 when Chalgrin sadly died. However, the monument was not completed until 1836 by Goust and Huyot. The Arc stands at 165ft tall, 148ft wide and 72ft deep, the design inspred by the Roman Arch of Titus. It has been unchanged for many years now but has to be occasionally ...
