A great conference venue but not ideal as a hotel

Advantages: Good rooms, well organised conference facilities
Disadvantages: If you aren't there for a conference, you could feel very 'left out'.

I'm a member of an industry association that holds a two day meeting every year in spring and we move the venue around between different hotels, typically in the Midlands. Last year we were in Rugby at the Dunchurch Park which had excellent conference rooms but dreadful accommodation. This year, the organisers found a new place for us to use - Ettington Chase near Stratford upon Avon. I travelled down from the North West on the day of the conference and my sat nav had no problems finding the hotel. When I pulled off the road into the car park I found a very beautiful old building that looked like a Victorian vicarage but was completely swamped by the size of the new wing. As so often happens, the website shows lots of pictures of the old building and not so many of the rather characterless red-brick block that provides most ...

Ramada Hotel and Conference Center,

Advantages: large selection of conference rooms for businesses
Disadvantages: no entertainment for those not in a conference,

I stayed at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, Edmonton, for 18 days in October. The stay was not a comfortable one. The check in counter was lined up upon arrival, and always appears to be lined up. The Elevators are ODD. You never know what will happen when you get in one when it finally shows up at your floor. The beds are hard. I was put on a waiting list for a fridge and in the 18 days never received a fridge. The wireless internet was unstable, sometimes allowing me to hook up, sometimes shutting down in the middle of an email. It advertised as wireless but I had to use the cable the majority of the time. There is only two washers and two dryers (that take up to two hours to dry one load), which seems inadequate for the number of rooms in the hotel. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant are somewhat unprofessional ...

Bewleys Hotel Manchester Airport

Advantages: near to airport a comfortable hotel and affordable
Disadvantages: none

***Introduction*** I had a flight booked from Manchester to Rhodes three weeks ago but unfortunately the check in time was 5.30 am. I really needed to be refreshed on my arrival because it was a business trip so I decided to check into Bewleys Hotel the night before, I have on previous occasions driven from home to the airport and found it very tedious and stressful normally leaving me feeling like a washed up dish rag by the time I arrived at my destination. ***The Hotel*** It is situated about three minutes walk from terminal 3 but also provides a 24 hour shuttle service to all the terminals. I actually travelled by train to the airport and on arrival I located the free phone in the main concourse to contact the shuttle service, they picked me up within five minutes which impressed me no end. It is a large ...
