I visited India and i was told that if you want to see what actually is the meaning of shopping and a market, than you need to go to Chandni Chowk in New Delhi.

Oh!!! I entered and i thought what i have done to myself.........crowd...noise....people....screams....music..vendors...no place to step...and here goes my first impression : POOR

Then, my indian mate asked me to be patient and we started exploring the place. Oh....my ratings started incresing....poor to average...average to liking....liking to good...and good to very good....but because of all the great characterstics i listed above i had to contain myself to GOOD to be politically right.

Things you can find in there :

I love Indian Dresses and specially the SAREES and other dress material for KURTAS etc...and when you like them...come here...you will fall in love with them....best bargains i have ever seen in this world.....cheapest prices....and best quality.....dont\'go by the way they packed...just be contained to the product itself...
Its silver...silver and silver there toooo........great silver...gold jwellery.....big heavy ornaments...and when you put them on your neck...you not only love them...but you love yourself.....looking like a princess.....so next time whn you are gonna impresss yor girlfriend...buy a lovely one from here.....and find the difference....lol......well...it will cost you nothing...

Its basically a business centre...or calll it a trade centre......now when i have started talking about trade centre ....let me tell you how it actually came into existence....

History :

Chandni-Chowk : Moonlit Square or Silver Square

When the famous Mughal Emperor Shahjahan shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi and established the city of Shahjahanabad, he had the majestic Red Fort or Lal Qila, on the banks of River Yamuna. Chandni Chowk was built in 1650 AD as an accompaniment to the fort. It was designed by Jahanara, the Emperor\'s favorite daughter. A large chowk (\"square\") with a central pool was built at some distance from the fort.

The story goes that on a moonlit night, the new complex and the pool lay shimmering; as a result, it acquired the name of Chandni Chowk- \"the moonlit square\".

Another legend says that the Chowk was named after it\'s silversmiths and there is a confusion of the word \'chandi\' (silver) with \'chandni\' (moonlit).

During Shahjahan\'s time itself, an arcade of shops had been built in a half-moon shape. Round this nucleus, in no time, grew a fabulous and prosperous trading center which spread along the wide road and branched into a number of bylanes in all directions. Originally only this stretch was known as Chandni Chowk. But as the trading center grew in magnificence and prosperity, the whole area from the Fort to Fatehpuri grew famous as Chandni Chowk. Roughly three and a half centuries later this area is still called by the same name

Places to Eat :

India\'s food rocks !!!!!! .....you go to this place and you find the best variety you could have ever tasted ......halwais (confectioners), namkeen ( spicy savouries) shops, chaatwalahs and many others....
Some old and famous mentions are :
Ghantewalah Shahi Halwai
Natraj's Dahi Bhalle
Kanwarji Bhagirathmal Dalbhajiwallah
Bikaner Sweet Shop
Haldiram's
Gianiji ka falooda

and the list goes on.............

How to reach :

You can either take local buses from various points within the city, which is located near the Interstate Bus Terminus at Kashmere Gate in the heart of New Delhi, or, alternatively, you can hire auto-rickshaws and taxis for the purpose. There are also regular buses from other important bus terminals like the Interstate Bus Terminus at Sarai Kale Khan and Connaught Place to Chandni Chowk.

So...........i think...u have already fallen in Love with this place ..........What Say ????
