Advantages: Free entrance, beutifully built, historic attraction Disadvantages: Can get very busy
CharlesBridge is probably one of Pragues most recognised landmarks. For many years, CharlesBridge was the only way to cross the River Vltava that flows through the middle of the City. Nowadays there are many bridges connecting Old Town Prague and the New Town but there is still something very special about the CharlesBridge that makes it stand out from all the others.
CharlesBridge is an old stone gothic bridge which is lined with numerous statues of saints. The bridge was built from sandstone blocks and was commissioned by Charles IV, after whom the bridge was named, in 1357. Today, the CharlesBridge can only be crossed on foot, but with it being a very popular attraction in Prague, it is literally crammed with crowds of people all day long. CHARLESBRIDGEPRAGUE
When I booked to go to Prague for a short break I knew nothing at all about the city. The little visitors guide I bought told me that one of the must see' places I must visit on my holiday was 'CharlesBridge'
As it happens, our hotel in Malá Strana was quite close to the famous bridge and we crossed it every time that we went to the Old town.
This little book also told me that the bridge would be very crowded and that it was a known place that pickpockets were in abundance.

So what is CharlesBridge?
CharlesBridge (Karlov Most) is to Prague is what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, the Tower to London etc. It is possibly Prague's most famous landmark.
It is an impressive ...
Advantages: Wonderful entertainment, fasinating architecture Disadvantages: The statues are copies only
No trip to Prague would be complete unless you take a walk across CharlesBridge (Karlov Most). CharlesBridge is the possibly Prague?s most recognizable landmarks: an old stone gothic bridge lined with numerous statues of saints.
The bridge connects the Little Quarter (where the Castle and St Vitus?s Cathedral stand) with the old town. Once upon a time, CharlesBridge was the only way to cross the River Vltava that flows through the city. Now of course, there are several bridges that span the river. Today CharlesBridge is pedestrian only. Considering that it is said that four carriages could travel side by side, the bridge now so crowded that it is hard to navigate. This is the only downside to the viewing the bridge; it is such a tourist trap that people congregate in groves.
We walked across the bridge after visiting ...
