It only costs a few Baht on the sky train and if you're in Bangkok, you really shouldn't miss this market. So what's so good about it? Everything! You want it - they've got it. This place has to be seen to be believed. It's massive. And it's also very cheap.
What would you like? Livestock, glassware, dishes, clothes, souvenirs, food... (hey, this is staring to sound like I'm on the "Just a minute" radio show). Seriously, they have everything. There's even a little bar in there where you can rest your weary feet and have a cold beer, whilst telling the vendors you don't want to buy their snacks.
Without doubt, Chatuchak is the best place to shop in Bangkok. Unless you're looking for computer stuff, then you'll want to go to Pantip Plaza - but that's another story.
you are a non-hotel guest, you have to pay to get here or else dine at the restaurant as it includes a free visit to this floor.

Anyone who visits Bangkok on a weekend will definitely go to Chatuchakmarket. It's a place that the locals go but nowadays tourists are there to look for cheap bargains. It only opens on Saturdays and Sundays so this is our highlight for our Saturday morning. Our hotel advised us to take a taxi to Chatuchak. It only costs us 80 Baht (£1) and if we took the skytrain, it's 40 Baht per person + taxi fare from the hotel to the nearest skytrain station.
We arrived at 9am and the stalls are just about to start business. There are over 3000 stalls here and each section sells different stuff so do your homework before you come. Print out a map of the market from the internet as it would help you find your ...

the Rambutan and it?s relative Mangosteen. Apart from that you can always try durian which smells so bad that in some places there are signs saying that you?re not allowed to bring it :-) I have tried durian in Singapore but I have to admit that I had to give up after the second bite. It was not the fruit for me, that?s for sure :-)
After a couple of days in Bangkok we met Kittimawadee (a Thai friend of mine) and her fiancee Bee. They took us to the Chatuchak weekend market (as you understand from the name it is only open on Saturday and Sunday). It is pretty easy to get there now because it is located near the end of the BTS line (Sukumwit line). The market is so big and it would have taken us ages to see it all. I have heard that there are 9000 different little shops. And you can get everything here from clothing, souvenirs, jewelry, pets ...
