There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was. This hotel is on a busy main road on the corner of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this. I think the hotel just had about 14 rooms in total, so not a busy place.
The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and efficient. The room was clean and bright, and although I booked a single, they were all occupied and I was given a double for the same price (£59 but I quoted an online code for a further £5 discount). There is no lift which was not a problem for me. The hotel is very old and full of passages and stairways.
The room was sound and secure, reasonably sized for a double, with a couple of modern wall pictures which brightened it up but a better expenditure would have been a new bed. It was so old it had no bounce or comfort in it at all, and the mattress was unsavourily grubby. However the sheets were fresh and clean. Plenty of towels were provided. Hot water was plentiful, although the sink was slow to drain and shower head looked worn and dodgy, however it did work satisfactorily. The tv was old and fuzzy and needs replacing.
A faulty bedside lamp was immediately replaced on request (there was a phone by the bed with line to reception). Rattly windows that didn't open but good heavy curtains. Sunday Breakfast (8 - 9.30am) was included and with a reasonable selection - not very exciting but good quality and plentiful - fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, coffee, and tea, orange juice, jams and marmalade, served in the lounge bar which was spacious and comfortable.
Checkout was 11am. ~A reasonable stay for the money, spoilt only by the condition of the bed (I was in room 11.) credit cards accepted.

Quick review of Chelsea Lodge Hotel, London
The price was good for the location and the staff friendly and helpful. However, it was the worst place I have ever stayed. It was filthy from the stairwell to the room. It was thick with dust, the room was not vacuumed once during my week's stay, the cleanliness of the bathroom was poor and the shower recess was spotted with black mould. I could not even be bothered with the tea/coffee making facility. The curtains were just hanging and the windows was hard to open. The Fulham Bar was a disappointment as the writeup stated it had a reputation for good food at reasonable prices - lunch time only. All in all the whole place is in need of a total renovation. ...
