Everyone, no matter how old they are or if they are male or female, likes a bargain. So what better place to visit than the epicentre of bargains – the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Park, part of the McArthur Glen group of designer outlets. It is conveniently situated just off junction 10 of the M53 “Mid-Wirral Motorway” (which incidentally is linked in with the national motorway network) and features 120 bargain-rich shops, including well-known brands like Gap, Nike, Reebok and Littlewoods.
All shops are open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at night, with exception of Saturdays (8 a.m. until 6 p.m.) and Sundays (11 a.m. until 5 p.m.). The car parking is excellent, although you will have to search a while for a parking space. There is also a food court on the site and various cafes, including McDonald’s within the area. As you would expect from a shopping village there are toilet blocks at specific points.
As for time to be allowed – a whole day is ideal, especially if you like to shop or you need a lot of clothing. I arrived at about 11 a.m. and did not leave until 8 o’clock. It will take you a fair amount of time to walk around the shops as it is arranged in a large circle with the car parking contained inside, so suitable footwear will be needed. You can also pick up a map at information points throughout the site which gives details of all shops in categories.
If you are bringing along small children there are two play areas – there is one small one near the northern end of the complex and a larger ‘jungle jims’ play area near the food court area. However, I didn’t see any information of a crèche when I visited.
If it’s not just shopping you want then there is a bowling alley and sports club in the immediate surroundings. There is also a Sainsbury’s if you need to do any shopping or want a meal from there.
All I can say is that I saved a lot of money on my trip and you are guaranteed to save as well. Don’t forget to allow enough time, perhaps take your own food if you don’t want to eat in the restaurants (some are expensive) and bring a lot of money to spend!
