chez gerard St John's Wood

The Restaurant is part of the chez gerard group that has a high reputation in fine dining. It has been around for around twenty odd years and upon a day in July I visited this Restaurant.

getting There

I fancied going out on a hot summers day in London in July, and it took me around forty minutes getting there on the Metropolitan tube line. The Restaurant itself is a short walk away from the Train Station. The Restaurant is located in a reasonably quiet shopping road. During my visit there was a boots the chemist shop located opposite the Restaurant and a rival Restaurant next to the chez gerard outlet.

first impressions

Upon entry I knew I was going into an expensive Restaurant and the first view of the Restaurant confirmed my initial thoughts. Outside the Restaurant was a Clean and Clear entrance to the outlet, and the Windows were open and in places on the outside were nice flower arrangements. The entrance inside the Restaurant was clutter free with details of their menu. Upon entering the place I was greeted by a foreign employee and he escorted me and my brother to our table. This was done with professionalism and made me feel at ease and relaxed about this visit. Other places I have been to, the same feeling is not always receieved so positively.

the service

I was pleased to have been greeted upon arrival and felt the waiter was friendly and escorted me and my brother to our tables quite promptly. Upon noticing the table's which were really high quality and had the Food and Wine menus arranged on the table. I was however felt slightly rushed in being asked what I would like to drink some thirty seconds after I had quickly browsed through the Wine menu. Overall I found the service to be first class as the cutlery was clean and mark free, the waiter was helpful and provided a check back within five minutes of the Food arriving.

Regarding the presentation of the Food was also first class as they seemingly prefer quality Food preparation and presentation as opposed to quantity big servings. This does let down the Restaurant in terms of value for money, though from the food presentation itself this does provide with an appetising meal choice. In terms of flavour and taste of the Food is also high quality.

the restaurant

The toilet's were clean and it is safe for me to say that the decorations in the store called pret a manger are identical to the Toilets of the Restaurant found in chez gerard. The Toilet's and of course the whole place was thorougly clean and tidy. The mirrors were all well positioned, and the toilet had Hand Soap and Hand Moisturisers also contained near the tap areas.

the Restaurant

Nicely decorated with nice Wooden Chairs and Tables. The overall impression was an old French style place that is really well presented and has a nice layout which benefits by having a Bar Area at the end of the store and a nice Window sitting area. The Music ambience was good as it played some tranquil Music which I guess be fitted this venue. I did however find myself sitting near other guest and I found myself at times in a rather noisy place.

recommendation

Clear and definitely recommended though it is an expensive place to Wine and Dine at.
