Advantages: Beautiful natural scenery, friendly locals, VERY cheap Disadvantages: Parts becoming slowly more commercialised
...then you should definately include a stay in Chiang Mai. This is the second largest city in Thailand, but for me it really showed the Thailand that I had dreamt of. Hotels are generally very cheap anywhere in Thailland which makes it possible to stay in the finest hotels that Thailand has to offer. In terms of Chiang Mai I can highly recommend the Sherton here. As you will come to expect from this magestic country your will receive exceptional service in all areas of need in this hotel.
Other places that are absolutely worth a visit are: Bangkok (but not for more than a few nights as it is EXTREMELY busy, far more so than New York and London put together with some of the roads consisting of 8 lanes of traffic each way!); Krabi (A smaller, more natural part of Thailand which is popular with Gap year students and familys alike, one of the best...

Advantages: Pollution free, Less poverty, friendlier people and better food Disadvantages: Its a long old journey from Bangkok, will you have enough time
...Mai is centred around the night bazzare, a market and food hall teaming until around 1am. Here u can buy tradtional handi-crafts aswell as the usual fake t-shirts etc. The main street is just full of stalls and shops selling ANYTHING you require and the best selection in Thailand I think.
Visit the Doi Suthep, An amazing wat high above Chiang Mai and next to the kings winter palace. The view of Chiang Mai from here is unbelievable.
Nightlife is great, a selection of bars shoulder to shoulder at night bazarre plaza, all with the obligatory "hostesses"! The best is easily the Doors pub owned by a dutch guy, try it!
I stayed with a native of Thailand who I work with in England, his brother put us up, so I cant comment on the accomadation first hand. I heard good things about it and understand it is plentiful. No visit to Thailand...

Advantages: Sorry to say but none Disadvantages: Very hilly and spread out, nothing special to see
...I visited Thailand earlier this year (March 05). Admittedly I am not a great lover of zoos but my travel companion really wanted to check out the Chiang Mai Zoo. I went with an open-mind but was very disappointed. I am writing this review a few months on but my memory is still very clear!
As with most attractions it was reasonably priced coming from the UK (can't remember exact price sorry)
I have been to several zoos in major cities and this was nothing compared to them. The actual sights were very sparse, and in some of the enclosures there were no animals. In the enclosures where the animals were kept were very uninspiring and unimaginative.
The whole zoo is very spread out and very hilly requiring a lot of walking. I don't mind walking but in the middle of a summer day it was absolutely exhausting. After about an hour...
