Frequency of trains ~~
Out of the many times I have used Chiltern Railways the train has never been more than 5 minutes late. And usually it is dead on time. Yes I bet your thinking if only all British rail services were like Chiltern Railways.
Trains are very frequent in the week ... ...Comfort ~~
All of Chiltern Railways trains are fairly new and they are always clean and comfortable. The seats are bright blue and comfortable and there is ample legroom. And on all services there is at least one first class carriage, the seats in first class are larger and more comfortable. Oh and they're bright red instead of blue.
Snacks! ~~
On most trains there is a snack trolley offering sandwiches, soft drinks, ... more
Introduction ~~ Well the British railways are in a bit of a state. Unsafe, late and unreliable are three words that come to mind. Well those three words don't go with all of Britain's railways. Yes I bet your thinking if only all British rail services were like Chiltern Railways. Trains are very frequent in the week and on Saturdays but trains are very infrequent on Sundays and the service is restricted. The service is also interrupted on Sundays due to track maintenance.
Value ~~ Not great.

Overall ~~ Overall Chiltern Railways are excellent.
Advantages: Comfort, sensible ticketing, Marylebone's free toilets Disadvantages: Phone-free carriage doesn't work, Snow Hill is cold
...here.
My experience of Chiltern is through their Birmingham Snow Hill to London
Marylebone services, so perhaps my comments won't apply to their other lines. I would doubt that, though, given their excellent performance here.
Birmingham to London is one of the very few rail routes where there is genuine competition between operators. At the top, you have Virgin - when it is working, it's often an excellent service, but "walk on" fares are ludicrously ... ...above bus levels of comfort. Chiltern have aimed to fill the gap, and it's a task they perform admirably.
Birmingham Snow Hill is not the most auspicious place to begin a journey -it's usually clean and efficient (though they really need to do something about the toilets, which are closed far too often), but is rather soulless - echoey and cold. The small shop is much too limited, and its hours are too short.
The ticket conditions are straightforward, ...

...complained to a manager at Chiltern who said that this was totally unacceptable and my money would be refunded if I wrote in. I also stressed that if I hadnt have had £50 on me there should have been someone on site to resolve this situation. The manager in question agreed.
Two months later I have had no response from my letter. I telephoned to speak to the same person but was told that he had left the company and that there was no record of my ...

Advantages: Comfortable, reliable, frequent, scenic, cheap Disadvantages: Cold air conditioning, not enough new trains at weekends
I use chiltern railways a great deal and i enjoy it. They are the best commuter operator in britain and out of the three years i've been travelling with them, i've only experienced one serious delay. The delay was a failure of our train that delayed us an hour, but this was resolved as quick as it could've been and a substitute train was sent to pick us up. Elsewhere, Chiltern is a very reliable train service offering very cheap tickets that don't ... ...expected on longer journeys. If Chiltern would kindly advertise the correct trains in their timetable (and this has been a recurring problem over the three years) then i may be able to pick my trains more carefully. I do like Chiltern alot, but don't really enjoy sitting in a suburban train all the way from Birmingham to London! All in all, Chiltern Railways do more than expected. I advise all who could use them, to use them. ...

Advantages: cheap designer items, easy to get to, free parking Disadvantages: outdoor centre
So you love your designer clothes but don't love the high prices? Then I would deifinately recommend Bicester Village outlet centre.
Bicester is a small town in the county of Oxfordshire, around 15 miles from oxford centre. The outlet centre itself is easily accessible via most methods of transports:
-Bus: Stagecoach offer a daily service approximately every half hour to Bicester Village from Magdalen Street in Oxford (outside Debenhams).
-Car: Take the M40 motorway to Exit 9. Follow the A41 for 2 miles towards Bicester and continue to follow signs to 'Village Retail Park' and 'Bicester Village Outlet Centre'.

more Meridian trains introduced (8 coach versions) to replace some High Speed Trains. The turbostar trains previously operated can now be found with Central Trains, with other turbostar trains operating on ChilternRailways, Southern, Scotrail, South West Trains and Transpennine Express. I feel they are pretty comfortable trains, but not suitable for Intercity fast services Midland Mainline provides.
