If you are looking for a good Chinese meal in Bolton I'm happy to say you finally have a good alternative to the Noble House.
Situated at one end of St Georges Road you climb a flight of steps to a very spacious restaurant. Tables are roomy (even for those of ample proportions like myself) and the service is friendly and helpful.
The menu has a good selection of dishes to satisfy all tastes but avoids the 'blind them with quantity' overkill so prevalent elsewhere. This seems to pay off in quality: in the three hours my party of four spent there we found all the food excellent - not a duff dish anywhere.
There was a good selection of beers available including my favorite Tsing Tao chinese beer. I'm afraid any wine buffs will be disappointed though: the house white is palatable enough but the wine list itself is rather lack-lustre.

Advantages: Great day out Disadvantages: can be an expensive day out
and wicked roller coaster ride.
Other similar white-knuckle rides are:
Nemesis, Oblivion, Air, The Blade, Submission and Enterprise.
There is also a lot of water based rides, The Flume possibly the major water ride, it is advisable to use this ride as a final option to you day out, as getting soaked is order of the day.
There really is to much to write about, as far as the rides are concerned, let me just say, there is more than enough thrills and spills too keep the whole family busy for a day out.
There is of course quieter rides and the cable car is a relaxing way to see the gardens in its entirety, also a stroll around the ChinaGardens or a visit to the actual towers is a very interesting and relaxing way to pass away a few hours, while the younger ones go mad.
There is also a vast amount of shops, shows, sideshows, amusement ...

. The road is lined on with restaurants on both sides from top to bottom. It is home to every type of food you could possibly be looking for, and for every type of budget. If you're feeling flush check out ChinaGarden at the bottom of the road. I used to live in Hong Kong and for me this is one of the only restaurants that serves authentic Chinese food. A more traditional eaterie is the Taurus Steak House further up the road and for American food there is Dig in the Ribs.
If you fancy a bit of a boogie later on, West Street houses several clubs (I love the Event II on a Friday night) the majority of the rest being located on the lower promenade on the seafront. Their featured artists and type of evenings change regularly so it is best to ask at your hotel. A word of warning however, jeans and trainers are normally considered unacceptable ...
