We booked into the hotel 1 day late after a 15 hour delay on our flight - The Helpline phone number was very helpfull and the room was held for us. We had a second floor room which, when we walked into it after no sleep and being put up in airline accomodation in Yichang we were in awe of the luxury this hotel provides. ...face. After calming down, we found a further 5 in the bedroom and 6 Crickets in the bathroom. We were moved to a 12th floor room and were trouble free after that. We were granted 20% dicount off our stay and did not pay for the first night we were unable to stay. ...West Lake is beautiful. Sofitel Westlake isn't right by the lake itself, but take a 2-3 minute walk, and you're there. So for lake viewing, it is more than convenient enough. I stayed on the business-class floor, and the service was fantastic there. Located on the same floor is also the business lounge, which provides snacks and beverages - and also a really lovely balcony which gives a great view of the lake. ...room. One thing I really liked about the room was the fact that it was supplied with a laptop (IBM Thinkpad) already connected to the internet - very convenient, and also fresh fruit! I love fruit. The bed was very, very comfortable, and if you ever stay in the Sofitel, make sure you don't oversleep in the morning if you have a meeting, or something else to do in the morning - it gives a fantastic 'sinking' feeling.
