You can imagine after my experience with BA that I was hardly looking forward to the three internal flights I would be making within China using their local airlines. However, my fears were quickly dispelled I can can reassure anyway with similar reservations. The planes were far more comfortable and the staff knew something about that phrase 'service witha smile'. Come on BA you have fallen a long way behind.

I recently travelled to China on BA. Their plane was good, comfortable with a good range of movies, etc. After a 13 hour flight to Hong Kong I was alittle concerned about the subsequent flight to Guangzhou. As it happened Hong Kong airport was a really good stop-over point, and the China-Southern check in desk were very polite.
Upon boarding the 737 we realised that the fleet was modern, and the crew polite. Although the flight was only 35 minutes ... ...all a very satisfactory experience. As the name suggests China Southern cover all of Southern China with an extensive flight schedule. The cost was around £120 each which I didn't think was too bad for a national airline. Perhaps Easyjet ought to muscle in on China though!! ...

As I have a Vietnamese wife and visited her country 7 times so far I have considerable experience of using this airline both on domestic routes and for flights in the region (Hong Kong, Cambodia etc) going back to 2003. The following is my overall assessment of all my flights with this airline to date and includes those areas where the service has, in my opinion, improved or declined.
Background and fleet
