Advantages Advantages Cheap and reasonably cheerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages poor food, poor drinks, poor service

I had heard a lot of good things about Chinois Chinese buffet in the Omni centre in Edinburgh so when me and my sister had a child free weekend we decided to go across to the Omni centre to catch a bite to eat and watch a film at the Vue cinema. Chinese buffets have become a really popular type of place to eat recently. Its easy to understand why, for not much more than the cost of a take away you get to pile your plate high with all your favourites and try some new tastes too. I've been to four Chinese buffets which range from exceptionally good to the local one which served rotten prawns ... more

Advantages Advantages Tasty, cheap, lovely food in gleaming surroundings

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gluttony, piggery and probably the other five deadly sins too

When I asked my four year old niece what her favourite restaurant was, she gleefully answered, ‘Ikea’!! So it’s fair to say she’s not exactly biting Michael Winner’s ankles in the food criticism department. But myself and him indoors like to think we’re a cut above, and so when faced with a babysitting/ dinner dilemma, we bundled the pink princess into the car and headed to our local Chinese buffet. Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wasted out time as we were going to the theatre and ended up having nothing to eat beforehand!

My daughter and I have vsited this chinese buffet several times over the years. This latest visit was the first for about a year and we certainly will NOT be back! First of all the lay-out has been changed and it is very difficult for customers to move around as the tables are now in rows. I guess this is to fit more tables in! We were shown to a table and had we sat where we were shown to we would have had no privacy at all as we would have been squashed up to two other ladies. We moved over to the end of the table so there was a seat between us. We ordered a lemonade and a water. The ... more

Suffice to say that we wont be back there. The starters looked like the chinese spring rolls, onion rings, small waffles and shaped chicken pieces straight from Iceland. It took us ten minutes to get a drink order. One of the dishes of rice ran out, gave up waiting for it to be replaced. The deserts were frozen gateau or tinned fruit or pineapple fritters or small muffins. Ice cream was good. All in all it was a very mediocre meal. The ladies toilet had obviously not been checked all day as every cubicle had loo paper lying on floor or on toilet seat. All in all it was a pretty awful ... more
