¡Buen provecho!

Advantages: Loads of choice - good sized portions - lively atmosphere
Disadvantages: Food can be over-processed and bland - bit noisy for couples

Sometimes Mexican food makes a welcome change from the usual. It can be as hot and spicy as you like it, but there are plenty of milder choices if you don't like too much heat from your food. I'd been wanting to visit a Chiquito outlet for a while, and finally got my wish one rainy bank holiday afternoon last month. For those that aren't familiar with the name, Chiquito are a chain of 50+ Mexican themed restaurants scattered throughout the UK, with ...
.../>
Chiquito restaurants offer a huge menu of Mexican style cooking, with more than a nod towards a more universally appealing Tex-Mex menu. If you're not familiar with Tex-Mex cuisine, it's best described as a style cooking which originated in Texas (and the other south-western states), blending US food products with the culinary dishes of Mexico. For example, there's a high usage of beef, beans and melted cheese, not to mention lashings ... more

Modern day Mexican metropolitan munchies!

Advantages: Amazing food, very well priced, lovely atmosphere
Disadvantages: Downstairs seating too close to the bar

...The first time I visited Chiquitos, I didn't have a desert, but have since tried banana taquito, which is a banana, dusted with cinnamon, wrapped in a tortilla and deep fried with fudge sauce on top, served with vanilla ice cream. It is quite heavy for a desert - one of these on its own could fill you. Also, it is extremely sweet. Nonetheless, it tastes lovely. My only criticism about the food concerns one of the other dishes I tried - Mexican rice ...
...a bit heavy handed with the rice. That, coupled with the huge tortilla, constitues a bit of a stodgy meal, with not a lot by way of sauces to lubricate it all, so that would be one dish to miss. STAFF Onto the staff. The staff can't be faulted. I actually feel a bit sorry for them because they do seem constantly rushed off their feet. You'll be lucky to see the face of your waiter/waitress as they are usually just a blur. I also feel sorry for them ...

Chiquitos in Hatfield

Advantages: Half decent food
Disadvantages: The Service

The well known Mexican Bar/Grill restaurant franchise “Chiquitos” has a quite newly opened branch in the Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield. Having been open now for about 6 months, and after a few dining experiences there, I will review this specific branch. Where is it? ---------------- Located just off Junction 3 of the A1M the Galleria shopping centre has 2 sides, one that leads straight into the retail side of the centre and another that ...
...you past the cinema end of the centre. From this side with the 2 entrances, Chiquitos is located directly in front of you whichever side you enter from, on the ground floor. Layout / Design -- In keeping with the same branding as all other Chiquitos I have been in. The Restaurant has a warm feeling in it, with soft but warm lighting and lots of red, yellows and browns in its colour schemes to keep with the “Mexican” feel and also to make the place ...

A little bit of Mexico right on my doorstep

Advantages: Good food, nice atmosphere, good service.
Disadvantages: more tex mex than mex

First of all I will clarify that the only chiquitos I have been to is the one in Ellesmere Port, near to cheshire oaks retail outlet, so this review is about that particular restaurant. Well I have to admit I love Mexico and Mexican food so this is a restaurant the I have visited many times with my partner and with various family members including children, and some older members who dont really do 'spicy food'. The Menu This is split into the ...
...desserts and drinks on the other side of a big piece of card. The starters range from the particularly non spicy prawn cocktail, to an extra large platter of things like potato skins, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers and more, that we shared between 3 of us today and had plenty to eat. I usually have the jalapeno poppers filled with cream cheese, these come served with a jelly that is just so scrumptious. There is a large selection of main courses, ...

No Speedy Gonzales here

Advantages: Variety of food and cocktails.
Disadvantages: Poor customer service and cold food.

Ahh Mexican food. The first time I visited Chiquito’s I was very apprehensive. You see I don’t like hot and spicy food and that’s what Mexican food is all about, right? Well no not really, yes you do get some hot dishes but not all of them are like this. So if you are feeling put off because of this then don’t. There are plenty of dishes that will appeal to you. As well as boasting authentic Mexican food it has Mexican interior and music. So you ...
...I have only eaten in Chiquito’s a few time but I have been in them many of times as they have a separate bar area. Now anyone who likes cocktails has to come here and try a few. I certainly have! With it being a Mexican restaurant this is excellent for those who love tequila. Tequila doesn’t like me so I can’t really comment on the different tequilas. However, the cocktail I DO love is the Key West Cooler. Now this I the only cocktail that you can’t ...

Eat Mexican off the A40

Advantages: Fairly rare type of ethnic food (for Acton that is)
Disadvantages: Varying waiting times - sometimes to the point of desperation

This opinion relates to Chiquitos in general and more specifically the branch situated with the Warner Village complex on the w/bound A40 at Park Royal, Acton. This is very conveniently situated for a post or pre-flick meal. Again, the usual Frday and Saturdays night rush means waiting in the bar for a table. Sunday night gives you another problem - lengthy service. On one occasion, after being shown immediately to a table, I was forced to walk ...
...I actually LIKE the place!) I don't think they have quite got their staffing levels sorted. I have always found the Mexican style food good wholesome stuff, my particular favourite being the mixed beef and chicken fajitas, served at your table on a sizzler. Although I like quacamole and refried beans, I'm not keen on the way they blend into the appearance of wallpaper paste in the subdued lighting...but heh, that's just me! Despite being a newly ...
