Didn't plan to eat at chiquitos but heard the music and smelt the food and felt like giving it a try. Was seated in a typical american booth style area, which was very nice. The restaurant on the whole had a nice ambience, was clean and comfortable. Good choice on menu and being a fan of mexican food was looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately it was an absolute disappointment. From where I was seated I could see the kitchen area and the chef cooking, which was fun to watch initially. The kitchen looked clean and the chef was busy prepping. What I did notice though was his only equipment seem to be a couple of deep fat fryers! And unfortunately I guess that is pretty much the basis of the menu; deep fried ready made food, yuk! I had the combo fahitas and my daughter had the salmon fish cakes, which we were expecting as according to the menu, would be served with mexican rice. However, it was served with rather card boardish fries, and a limp salad. The salmon in the fish cakes must have came about from a salmon swimming past the fish cakes and giving them a wink! It was mainly mushed up potato and some unidentiable veg, with a cajun coating. The fajita's were slightly better, except that the meat appeared to be of the reconstituted viarety and the wraps were supermarket style and not particularly warm. I think that as fast food goes, which it is, it's fine if you like that sort of thing, however, they do need to ajust their prices accordingly, as the bill with 2 drinks came to £29. By the end of the meal, I felt rather sorry for the 'chef' as it must be very disheartening to have to deep fry what could be potentially good food all day. Stick to macdonalds if you like fast food, it's much better value for money!

Not yet a chance to try a Chiquitos, but it does sound a bit disappointing. Not sure if I'd have salmon fishcakes if I did eat there....they're not very Mexican - lol. Lexy
