Now Im always a bit weary about booking somewhere to stay over the internet especially if I had never had any recommendations from anyone. However, I most certaintly made the right choice staying here.
The park is a family & couple orientated park which provides a high standard of accomodation. Located in Blackwater, Truro, this caravan park is situated very centrally to a many towns and attractions such as St Agnes, Perranporth, Newquay, The Eden Project and St Ives.
Although it is not massive it hosts around 50 Luxury Holiday Homes and also provides room for tourers and campers. There are 6 different types of caravans available which are arranged in groups. I'll quickly outline the difference: Group 1 - 3 bedroom, 35ft long x 12ft wide, 6 berth but can be an 8 berth due to double bed in the lounge. Additional insulation & heating Group 1a - 2 bedrooms, 28ft long x 12ft wide, 4 berth but can be a 6 berth due to double bed in lounge. Additional insulation & heating Group 2a - 2 bedrooms, 28ft long x 12ft wide, 4 berth but can be a 6 berth due to double bed in lounge Group 2, group 3 & group 4 - 2 bedroom, 28ft long x 10ft wide, 4 berth but again can be made into 6 berth if required. Some group 4 caravans have additional heating & insulation.
All caravans have Duvets & Pillows provided so you only need to bring your own bed linen (e.g. pillow cases, duvet covers, sheets). However, you can hire bed linen for £5.00 per set.
Other amenities for hire include: Microwave £7.00 per holiday DVD Player £6 per holiday (includes 2 films) High Chairs £5 per holiday Extra Car/Trailer £15/week Not quite an amenity but you can bring your dog for £15 per dog per week
Our caravan (group 1a) was very much up to date & modern and there was plenty of room. It was very nicely furnished. I can't speak for the other caravans as I have not stayed in them but judging from the photos online they seem the same. All caravans have also have a TV with Satellite. There are only about 10 TV channels but much better than nothing. You can rent out a DVD player if you wished and DVD's were on loan in the shop on site. We also had a kettle, microwave (which we didn't pay for), an oven, gas fire and heating in our caravan. There is a vacuum cleaner available for loan free of charge so that people can clean up after themselves.
Prices vary depending on time of year, duration of visit and which kind of caravan you wish to stay in. You can always go onto their website and cheap out the prices for yourself as there is an online booking form which makes booking your stay a heck of a lot easier. I can say that I stayed there the first week in July, 7 nights in a Group 1a caravan and only payed £350! . That worked out as £50 a night and as there were three of us thats only £16 a night! Thats a bargain I think!
Onsite you have a gym, sauna & steamroom for caravan users & tourers to use as much (or as little) as you wish . Tourers need to be staying for a minimum of 7 nights to gain usage. The only thing is that when you book in you need to give a £10 deposit. When you pay this you are given a key card. Providing that you return it at the end of your stay you are given your £10 back. In my books thats a good thing because then people aren't just going to take these cards home as souveniers and cause extra expense to the owners. I did have a look around the gym, sauna & steamroom but I never got the chance to use these facilities as we were always out on day trips etc. but when I did have a nosey they were very up to date & clean.
Other facilities on the site include: A shop - which only provides the basic essentials e.g. bread, milk, eggs, chocolate etc! However, there are supermarkets not too far away. Public telephone Laundry room, with ironing facility Children's play area Ice packs freezer service Games Room - armed with CCTV cameras (good idea!) New Toilet and Shower block - for campers Multi-service bollards (water,tv,16amp electrics, grey waste) - for tourers and campers. Recycling bins
There is NOT a pub or any club on site which in my eyes is a good thing. Thats probably why it's so peaceful. However there is a local pub called the Chiverton Arms at the back of the site which takes about 5 - 10 minutes to walk there. I would also recommend going there as the food is gorgeous!
Altough the weather wasn't cracking when I stayed there I would definately recommend staying at this site. The owners were very nice and tend to your every need, the park is peaceful & quiet and very clean. It is also very central and its worth every penny. I would most definately stay there again even if it does mean another 6 hour journey! O;o)

Quick review of Chiverton Caravan Park, Cornwall
Stayed for a long weekend in March 2008. Very friendly welcome and Brenda (owner) showed us personally round the caravan. The caravan was spotless. It had all the extra little things you need like proper wine glasses and a dish cloth! The site is extremily well maintained and the childrens play area is enclosed making is staff for a good run about. We have re-booked for 2 weeks in August and we are really looking forward to it. ...

Advantages: location, quite, Disadvantages: games room
we decided to stay at this caravan park, because of price and ideal to get to different parts of cornwall, we arrived and was showed round the caravan, although the park it self was quite, we could hear the traffic, the games room was poor and we did;nt use the gym, the outside play area was fence off, if we were to stay there again i would ask to have a caravan away from the noise of the traffic. it is close to St Agnes and perrenport beach, and ...
