Advantages: centrally located for all that Christchurch has to offer
Disadvantages: some rooms are noisy if at the back, near the top.

Ideally situated within Christchurch city so is handy for nearby restaurants and shops etc. This is a huge hotel and is part of the Millenium Hotels group. This makes it quite impersonal but the staff are very professional and helpful. The foyer is smart and reception efficient. You're given a hand with baggage. We stayed on two separate occasions. Rooms are spacious and adequate. Facilities include tv and access to internet, tea and coffee making ...
...a laundry (great when you're travelling around). Some rooms have views across the park and even though they are on the roadside, there is little noise. Some rooms have a less than appealing view over the back (carpark etc). If you're in a room overlooking the back on one of the higher floors you're likely to hear the large fans on the roof. Millenium Hotel

Advantages: Well situated, value for money
Disadvantages: A bit pricey

From my experience in 1997. Been with my family during my sister's graduation day in Lincoln University. Though, it has been a long time ago, hopefully it will benefit you guys who want to stay in this hotel. This hotel is very strategically located. Top class hotel for light wallets

Advantages: Near to city centre, borders 2 acre park, shuttle bus services
Disadvantages: Bar closes a little early

We contacted the hotel before hand to arrange a free shuttle bus service provided by the hotel to pick us up, which was there on time and well serviced. During the short 20 mins drive to the hotel the driver advised us about all the things that were able to us and even took a short detour to show us where things were located so we felt comfterable straight away. Check in process was smooth and easy, and the first glances of the hotel did not dissapoint. ...

The bathroom was of a good size and had all the mod cons you can expect including a heated mirror. Advantages: excellent location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: tv room, internet facilities

The first was a 6-bed mixed dorm with no facilities (apart from a rattling window!), situated on the second floor next to the television room. ...has to be noted that base Christchurch has some of the cleanest communal facilities I have experienced in a hostel. The second room I stayed in, also a 6-share mixed dorm, had the added benefit of an en-suite (toilet, basin and shower), for just a small surcharge (approximately 2 NZD per night) and was without the rattling window. Rolleston House Youth Hostel

Advantages: Cheap, clean, central, comfortable
Disadvantages: No privacy, poor bathrooms

Rolleston House youth hostel is a HI hostel (YHA affiliated, i.e. you get a discount) on Worcester St in the centre of Christchurch, New Zealand. It is situated close to several bus stops, including the bus to the airport (which starts running early in the morning). I came as a lone traveller here two years ago and found it an excellent base to stay. It was cheap (less than £15 per night), clean, in a nice area, and was a good place to meet like-minded ...
