Advantages: fills you up and very versatile Disadvantages: not good for the cellulite
and less guilt! You can eat it raw but for my own personal taste, found it disgusting. It doesn?t actually melt as normal cheese does and has a rubbery texture.
The cheese is made from Goats milk. It comes wrapped in plastic and covered in Brine. There are small green bits inside the cheese, don?t panic, its only mint or vine leaves.
I usually rinse the brine off and then proceed to slice the Halloumi. A pack of Christos is about 250g and you can get about 6 good slices from this. I don?t recommend having big chunks, as it tastes better thin. Once sliced place under the pre-heated grill it until the top turns a crispy brown. Turn over and grill the other side. The inside should be soft and white.
Serve Halloumi with Greek salad, or even a normal English salad. I personally hate Greek salad (it?s the olives!), so I serve it ...
Advantages: no other cheese like it! Disadvantages: none
part of a main meal aswell (Nigellas recipe below) Also good as part of a cooked breakfast/brunch aswell as or instead of the meat.
Although the hallumi doesn't melt when cooked or loose its shape, it becomes crispy on the out side and soft and squishy on the inside! Christos Hallumi, mabye becuaes it has a higher water content, doesn't seem to burn as quickly as other brands. It tastes creamy and a bit salty, some other brands are very salty, and my friends call it the squeeky cheese!
Delia Smith has a recipe in her summer cookbook and Nigela Lawson has a really good recipe for a two potato and hallumi bake in Nigella Bites cookbook.
You can find hallumi in most supermarkets Tesco, Safeway, Asda, especcially the bigger ones, just look beside their continental/ speciality cheeses. comes in at a few pounds a pack, which is about 250 ...
Advantages: grounbreaking album with some classic house beats Disadvantages: maybee out-dated ???
Daft Punk's Homework is a brilliant album and at the time of its release it was one of a kind, the album has a massive 16 tracks with the majority of them being 5 minutes plus.
The French duo Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem Christo exercise a great use of classic house beats throughout the album, and combined with the way in which some of the tracks are structured they almost tease the listener before reaching a fantastic climax giving you a great feeling.
This applies in particular to the tracks Rollin' & Scratchin' and Rock' n Roll, (these two are personally my favourite tracks on the album), they start of almost innocently with a nice groove, but once they get going and reach their climax they are really mean sounding tunes. This a good example of Daft Punks amazing control of sound which only gets better by each ...
