Advantages Close to Paddington Station and buses
Disadvantages Small rooms, overpriced, staff could be more welcoming
|Value for Money|
As soon as we entered, we realised that the rooms were small in our opinion and were overpriced for the amount being charged (we paid about £130 for a double room). There was enough room to fit luggage in the room, but the room felt a bit cramped overall. The rooms felt in need of modernisation and a bit of redecoration. The bed felt a little small for a double bed and we felt a little insecure in the surroundings. There was a simple single lock on the door with no internal door chain lock.
We felt that the portions of the English breakfast offered was small and the service could have been better. We felt that the staff could have done more to make you feel more welcomed, and didn't even say bye when we left the key.
Normally we would have expected a hairdryer and a kettle in the hotel room, but maybe we shouldn't have assumed that this was included. Soap and shampoo was included, however there were no other complimentary items such as biscuits or tea that would be expected for the price paid for the room. There was a small TV set with the standard channels. To us, it seemed like this should not be classed as 3 star hotel but was more like a guest house.
I am sure that there were many other hotels in the area that offered better value for money.
