Chumbe Island Coral Park, Zanzibar

Disadvantages: not much nightlife

...are magnificent. You can see that alot of money was paid to build it. Attractions Most of the attractions are through organised tours. Some of them are: * Spice Tour - visiting the Spice Island to see nutmeg, cocoa, bananas & vanilla trees. * Kizimkazi Dolphin Excursion - to the south of Zanzibar island to see dolphins. * Prison Island - This was the most interesting tour that I found. This island was once a jail, so I expected it to be maybe a little run down but It wasn't. It's quite a charming little island, good for sun-bathing. Chumbe Island Coral Park is also a place to visit. The ocean is home to 370 species of fish and about 200 species of coral. And the views are breathtaking. Advantages: Nice hotel, good swimming pool and bar, fantastic scenery, close to the beach, very peaceful
Disadvantages: Very remote - a few more tavernas would be advantageous, the seabed was covered in seaweed

...My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying at the Hotel Coral in Skala Rachoni, Thassos. We booked with Thomsons Holidays as a last minute package deal, although this hotel can be booked independently. We stayed for a week during the school holidays from July 22nd to July 29th 2007. THE LOCATION and FACILITIES The hotel is literally 180 metres from the sea (less than 5 minutes walk) and is set within beautiful olive groves with a spectacular mountain backdrop. The small resort centre of Skala Rachoni is about 1km away along the seafront, and the village of Rachoni is 4km inland. There is plenty of parking available at the hotel and a lovely swimming pool with pool bar. The swimming pool, which is a decent size, is set within the olive groves and so the surroundings are totally peaceful. My only gripe... Read review

Disadvantages: probably packed during peak season?

...Cyprus is an island in the southern mediterean, just off the Egyptian coast, being divided into touristy Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus (which is mostly a military base). I went to Cyprus on a cycling holiday and it was an absolute nightmare to get the bikes, we waited 45 minutes after everyone else had left the new (but very barren and not very comfortable) arrival lounge. The bikes eventually appeared to fell off the plane, as we found later in the holiday that they arrived with various damage. Larnaca is the location of the main airport in Cyprus, located close to the party town of Ayia Napa but 90 minute slow bus ride away from the Coral Beach Hotel and Resort, Paphos. The country appears to be very dusty, sparse in population except for the large hotel resorts and the ubiquitous half built villa's that seem to be found... Read review
