...The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac hotel dominates the cliffs overlooking the St Lawrence in the Old City of Québec. Designed to be a railway hotel for the Canadian Pacific Railway, this fairy-castle like building has expanded since construction started at the end of the 19th century, to become the landmark building for the city. The architects have taken pains to ensure that the hotel does not look out of place with the nearby citadel, and this marriage of old style in new, modern surroundings are much in evidence in the interior. According to the leaflet provided in the hotel room, many famous people have stayed here including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, Princess Grace of Monaco, Charles de Gaulle, Ronald Reagan, François Mitterrand, Charles Lindberg and Alfred Hitchcock. ...I stayed in this hotel last summer for three nights during a trip across Quebec province with a friend. Usually our budget does not stretch as far as such a delightful hotel but we managed to pick up a great deal, which is the first good point about this hotel. The hotel was exceptionally easy to find and well located within the city, within easy walking distance of the old town. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, clean and well thought out. The bathroom was particularly nice, and perfect for relaxing. We were also lucky enough to have a fantastic view across the city from the room. The gym and pool were also excellent, and the hotel bar very accommodating. Staff were always polite and helpful. In short I have nothing negative to say about this hotel, and I would recommend anyone to stay here during their stay in the beautiful... Read review

Advantages: central location and homely

...If your loking for a mid price range hotel in the heart of Amsterdam you could do a lot worse than the Citadel. Located on the busy NZ VOORBURGWAAL it is in walking distance of all the major attractions,2 minutes from Dam square,in the same street virtualy as the OUDEkerk, and it has a tram stop right outside the front door. The citadel is a small hotel which ofers overnight and breakfast at about £45 per night ,whilst there are cheaper places to stay in the same road they are usally flea pits ,the citadel ofers luxuries like in house t.v.,one price for all day viewing. The rooms are small,i have only had a single room,but adequate with en suite and tea making facilities.The breakfast area is a bit cramped and is located opposite the also small reception but i feel this lends to the homely atmosphere .I found the staff...
