Citadel of Sigiriya - Lion Rock, Sigiriya

Advantages: Superb views. Sense of achievement
Disadvantages: Don't go on a "Full Moon" day

...Sigiriya - All human life is there.....especially if you are silly enough to go on a public holiday! This rock is an amazing sight, rising as it does from sweltering jungle and the fortifications at the top give fantastic views over a large part of central Sri Lanka. However, the reality of the climb up "iffy" staircases pinioned into the rock, and a very tedious "one step every five seconds" spiral staircase take away the romance. At least it was tedious with about 300 people ahead of you! I was so sweaty when I got to the top, I forgot to take photos. The breeze is no use since it's as hot as you are, and the humidity makes sweating less effective....mmmm nice. Advantages: Very Cheap prices. Beautiful Country full of historical sights and friendly people. Hotels are all excellent and reasonably priced
Disadvantages: It's great for laid back people but be careful if you are a very active person and not into the whole sightseeing gig

...massive rock and inside are the Fresco's painted by the prince, which are in very good condition. Also you can climb to the top of Sigiriya rock, it is one LONG journey. One thing I didn't believe till I saw it is that this prince actually made water travel upwards. He did this ages ago and somehow he managed to do this you really have to see this. In Kandy there are places where elephants are kept, I can't remember the name but there is also a tooth that has some significance, please remember that I have suffered many head traumas and can't remember everything clearly. The main sport of SL is Cricket and if you do go there try and watch a game if you are able to the atmosphere is amazing as I am sure anyone returning from the cricket tour will tell you. ...lucky ! But if you do get the chance, try it. Tranqulity at its best. 7. Yala - for all you wildlife fanatics. It houses Srilanka's only wildlife sanctuary. Highlight of the park are the leopards ! 8. Sigiriya - A must see. Specially Adam's peak. 9. Bentota - If your looking to just chill out by the beach then thats the place to be ! 10. Last but not least, you've gotta try out the Ayurvedic hotels that are about. (Herbal hotels). Srilanka boasts a large industry of all natural oils and herbal treatment and spas. So if your looking for ahhhhhhhhh experience, then these are the hotels you need to check out !
