A city in the sunshine, remote and empty, Perth, W.A.

Advantages: Wonderful climate, no crowds, clean, very pretty
Disadvantages: Not very historically interesting

Perth, Western Australia. =Where is Perth?= Perth is the Capital city of the state of Western Australia which is physically about a third of the entire country of Australia but the population is small ? only about 10% of the nation?s population. This population of about 2 million most actually live in Perth ( 1.5 million) and the other towns like Geralton, Albany, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Broome so it is a very empty State in the other areas. Perth is situated on the Swan River and is said to be the most isolated city in the world. Perth?s nearest city is over 1 million is Adelaide which is about 2000km away. Perth is actually geographically closer to Indonesia than it is to Sydney. =A bit of History= Perth was first settled by British in 1832 and was officially known as Western Australia at this time but more often referred to as ...

Review of Perth (Australia)

A short stay at the Perth Ambassador

Advantages: Great Value, close to the CBD
Disadvantages: Lacking in va va voom

As regular readers will know I'm lucky enough to live in the beautiful city of Sydney on Australia's Pacific east coast. Like Sydney it has a temperate climate, beautiful beaches on the Indian Ocean and a thriving economy. I'm currently on my third visit to Perth and I'm fortunate in that I'm here on business and the company are picking up the hotel tab (not to mention the bar tab!). I picked my own hotel and the criteria was that it should not be to far from the office and not to far from downtown area or the CBD (central business district). I'd also stayed in a backpackers hostel in East Perth ...

Review of Perth Ambassador Hotel, Perth

Perth has history

Advantages: Nice views
Disadvantages: See op

I just wanted to write something about Perth as there are only 2 other op's on Perth and they were from visitors so I thought that it would be nice for me to do an op since I live here. I will get the most obvious thing out of the way first The home of the Black Watch is in Perth, which I am sure most of you will have heard about in the news recently. The Black Watch is the oldest highland regiment, begin in existence since around 1725. The Black Watch museum is housed in Balhousie castle, Hay street, Perth. In the museum there are five rooms with Black Watch memorabilia. Now some other information about facilitieS. Admission charges - Free to all (but you can make a donation if you wish). Any large group such as school's should phone to make an appointment this can also include a guided tour. There is a small car park but it ...
