Advantages: Staff cheerful and efficient, food not bad Disadvantages: Overpriced, poorly maintained
...I've spent 2 nights at this hotel, on both occasions as part of a tour package which uses this hotel as a one-night stopover within half an hour of Calais. I think thats what keeps this place going, weary travellers needing a bed for the night within easy travelling distance of the Channel ports, plus its big enough to swallow several coach parties. I can't imagine anyone choosing to stay here (more than once) unless they got a very good deal on price. I would have felt ripped-off if I'd had to pay the advertised rate of 74 euros for a night in a scruffy room, then had to pay another 10 euros for breakfast.
The first night here the room was rather small and cramped, not unclean, but still grubby in parts. It had obviously had a recent coat of paint on the walls, a rather amateurish job for which the pictures had been left on the wall...

Advantages: Serves alligator Disadvantages: The christmas set meals aren't very good.
...Old Orleans was recommended to me for good mexican food and the fact that it serves alligator which I had never tried so I thought I'd go along and try it out. I had what is called a Surf and Turf which is a 4oz beef steak and a smaller piece of alligator. The alligator was very tasty due to the marinade and tasted like a cross between chicken and fish. The portions were quite large so there was no room left for dessert. The cocktails there are excellent and I indulged in a toffee and banana one.
Prices are quite high and a meal for two in the evening including a bottle of wine came up to £40.
The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was good.
I would go there again as I still have yet to try the mexican dishes....

Advantages: Easy to get around, great food, cheap accomodation, amazing sights Disadvantages: Drinks can be very expensive in bars, street vendors in touristy areas
...If you are looking for a place of culture, cuisine and, though it sounds like a clique, romance, Paris is your city.
It is is one of the most fantastic places for a short break I've ever had the pleasure to go to. Flying with Buzz from Stanstead (an exremely comfortable and easy flying experience at a great price)we arrived in the early evening and after a short RER joureney found ourselves in Denfert Rochereau. Finding a hotel proved to easy and we soon found ourselves in the Hotel de Lion just round the corner from the station - clean, comfortable and reasonably priced at 438f a night.
After having a wander about we found that there were many nice bars in the area and cosy restraunts - we settled on the Bar D'Orleans which was a spot on place for food and drink.
The following day we braved the Metro for the first time - and what...
