been out into Manchester and then to visit mom in hospital arriving back at the hotel at about 4.30pm and the room was exactly as we had left it in the morning - no one had bothered to service it! Dave rang reception to complain and they sent someone up who initially said that all we needed was some tea and coffee. I pointed out that the bed needed making, the tissues in the bathroom had run out and there was no toilet paper so maybe it needed a little more than tea and coffee! The room was then serviced to our satisfaction - for £85 per night I did not intend making my own bed, I do that enough at home! On the following day we returned to the hotel at lunchtime and the room had not been serviced. Don't waste your £ on the luxury rooms - Crowne Plaza Manchester

Advantages: Location. New and modern
Disadvantages: Awful club level package. Decor not to everyones taste.

Owing to the recession the hotel industry has been one of the hardest hit areas and as such, we have seen some of the most excellent deals come out as room rates drop back to prices charged in the 1990?s. Staying in the UK for the summer I decided to take advantage of some of these rates and looked into the special offers available from Crowne Plaza. As a treat for myself and the other half, I decided we would go to Manchester for the weekend. It is a city I haven?t really explored much before and thought it would be a good weekend trip. I had seen the newly opened Crowne Plaza on this years Apprentice and the hotel and rooms looked very modern and stylish and when I saw the promotional prices I thought why the hell not and off we went. City Inn Manchester

Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Small rooms

I have been a regular to this hotel over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. The hotel is conviently located across from the main train station and only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the city - Piccadilly Gardens. The staff have always been helpful through my stays. The decor is contemporary and the rooms are finished to a high standard. Every room comes equiped with an Apple desktop computer with free internet acess - a nice touch. Fixture and fitting are all of a high spec and clean throughout. My only grip perhaps is that all the rooms are quite small. The hotel bar is again contemporary in style, but is comfortable and has a good number of guests in the evenings. Breakfast was of a high standard with excellent service and a great selection of hot and cold foods. All in all, a great place to stay! ...
