I personally like a nice hotel and found the City Breaks Brochure from Thomas Cook very helpful. I managed to book a four night stay at the Crown Plaza Holiday Inns through them and it cost me £249.00 per person, with flights, and a car to take us to and from the airport.

Amsterdam is a beautiful city with its canals and bridges, and such a pretty sight at night when all the bridges are lit up. It is full of Museums and Art galleries, so much culture; it really is a marvellous place to visit.
Hotel prices range from £25.00 per night up to £80.00. Then of course you can stay in one of the many hostels for just a few pounds, it depends what you are looking for.

I did notice quite a few accidents while I was there, nearly all pedestrians. The police didn’t chalk around the victims’ form they placed a white plastic sheet shaped in the form of a body; this told me that they had quite a few pedestrians knocked over.
One of my favourite places has to be Ann Franks House this is so interesting, everything is still the same as it was during the war when she hid from the Germans with her family. I must point out here though, we had to queue up in the street to get into the house because it is so popular and I think they control how many people are in at one time. Pick-Pockets hang around tourists in queues as we found out, so watch out for that.
The restaurants are plentiful and there is something to suit every nationality. My fav ourite was ‘Gouchos’ an Italian steak house just up from the flower market.
The Flea market is another good visit, you can pick up all sorts, I spied an artificial tin leg on one stall, it made me wonder, Whatever happened to Douglas Baders leg when he crash-landed? Again I must stress pick-pockets are rife in these markets so be careful.
I have only visited Amsterdam in January, and it was freezing cold, so cold in fact the canals were frozen over. I saw a lot of local children skating on the canals this was nice to see, and a trip to the Windmills and Edam was definitely a trip worth going on.
Amsterdam is well worth a visit for a few days, I plan to go back in the summer months to see the tulips and flower markets, and of course to have a huge steak from ‘Gouchos’.
Advantages: Gorgeous Disadvantages: None - i love it

I visited Salt Lake City in 2002 with my friend, Melissa, who I met at University, and who I was staying with in Washington State at the time. Her aunt was having a mid life crisis after divorcing her husband at 50 something. Melissa's Dad decided it was a good idea if we went to visit her 'to cheer her up' and paid for our flights for a three day trip. I wouldn't personally have chosen it as a 'must see' desination but it was a free trip! Salt Lake City is a pretty weird city but interesting in many ways.....

My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan.
Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington.
If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay.
The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. The placement of the hotel was my favourite thing about it as it was just so easy to walk to some of the city's best attractions from here.
When we checked in ...
