It was my husband's birthday so I was looking for a romantic weekend for us both. On arrival at the hotel I was taken back by the beautiful landmark building which I later found out was built in 1884 (pictures don't do it justice!). It used to be an old mental hospital but in April this year was transformed into a beautiful hotel, the building alone has to be admired!
On entering reception, there was such high energy in the lobby with the masses of people which included business people to couples and families all relaxing and chatting amongst themselves. As we were checking in, the receptionists said that we had been upgraded to a suite free of charge which was an extra bonus! (The hotel was a full house that night so I still don't understand how we got upgraded!) The suite was absolutely beautiful. Clean, spacious with a mix of both classic and contemporary style. In our suite we had a room which consisted of a living area (TV/Phone/3 piece suite -which also changed to a bed) and a kitchenette (microwave/fridge/dishwasher/plates/cultery/table&4chairs). In another room was the bathroom with steam free mirrors along with the usual hotel freebies, along with a menu for spa treatments which you could get if you wish. Finally the last remaing room, the bedroom... The bedroom also included an interactive TV, phone, again the usual hotel thing (iron/hairdryer,etc) and camomile tea to help you sleep which is part of their leep therapy programme - very good! The bed is huge and very, very comfortable.
The breakfast was extra but was an, "all you can eat" breakfast which added to my husbands delight! The leisure facilities are top of the range especially the gym. Highly recommended to anyone!!! All in all a very good weekend at a small cost of €79 (approx £53). Brillant!
