Cleethorpes is a small, yet well known seaside town in Lincolnshire, on the east coast of England. I have visited it many times before and no doubt will many times again, not that I know why!
GETTING THERE Cleethorpes is very easily accessible by motorway/road from yorkshire, humberside, lincolnshire and all the midlands really. There are many car parks mostly with a small charge or free for disabled badge holders It is also accessible by train, on the transpennine express(south trans-pennine route)(see review of arrivatranspennine express). trains run once an hour from manchester, sheffield, doncaster and the stops inbetween, with some services from lincoln.
THINGS TO DO
the last line summed it up, pretty much. there is a little but not much. There are various amusement arcades scattered across the promenade as well as a handful of crazy golf courses too, these generally cost around £2.50 per person per game. Cleethorpes calls itself a seaside town but the truth is that from the promenade theres around one and a half miles of flat sand to walk across before you reach the sea. There are several small cafes, one very nice one I would reccomend is boaters, it is quite expensive but has a nice view from its open terrace and indoor seating that offers panoramic views over the coast. There is a pretty small and pretty rubbish theme park called pleasure island which has old rides, that are mainly ex-flamingo land rides. entry is £14.50 and unreccomended.
In general, Cleethorpes is ok if you just want to get out of the house for an hour or two or a cheap place to take children for the day, otherwise not so good.

Hehe! ..I nearly gave you a VH rating as I loved this little review! a lot of my family live in Hull Humberside, have been to a place called Withernsea which sounds a lot like Cleethorpes that you describe and I must admit to being very depressed the last time I went there :-( I found your review great, all the best ...Terry.
