A Grand Time In GranCanaria
After a rather over-worked summer, and a few of my own personal problems I needed a good long break where I could forget the alarm clock and completely relax. My normal preferred holiday destination is Magaluf/Majorca, but I felt like going somewhere different, and this time not just for a lively holiday, but a more scenic holiday.
All of my friends had been to GranCanaria before and raved about it for ages, and when they suggested for me to come along with them this year, for a two week break, it was too good an offer to refuse.
We booked our self-catering holiday with Thomas Cook as a holiday package - flights, holiday and transfers. The total cost of our two week holiday £380 each.
So in the words of Peter Kay (comedian)?..Packed it! Booked it and f*^*ed off!
Now my holiday started ...
Advantages: It has the wow-factor! Disadvantages: I couldnt think of one, except the souvenirs.
OO GRAN CANERIA INTRODUCTION OO
GranCanaria is the third largest island in the Canary Islands of the coast of mainland Spain. It is a archipelago which is located around 210km from the northwest coast of Africa. It is a volcanic island with volcanic origin.
The islands initial inhabitants where the Guanches who arrived at GranCanaria at around 500 BC and names the Island Tamaran, however the Island was then claimed by Spain in the 15th century.
GranCanaria?s surface measures 1,560 km² and its highest peak is 1,949 meters.
The Island is divided into about twenty one municipalities which are as follows:

Advantages: Great View, Clean, Good Pool, Large Room Disadvantages: Away From Main Centre
in with the daily quiz and water sports, such as water polo (that nearly killed me). We even won the music quiz and got a free jug of sangria. There is a large bar in the hotel, but we didn't go in there much as we preferred to try the many other bars in the resort.
The Resort
Puerto Rico is one of my favorite resorts. It's always warmer there than the rest of the island, there is a very nice beach with imported sand and beautiful harbour area. The resort is in a kind of valley so there are quiet a lot of hills and steps.
The Europa centre has some bars and restaurants, however, we preferred the main centre at the bottom. All the bars, shops are restaurants are in one area, and there is a nice atmosphere. All the restaurants we ate in served excellent meals at a reasonable price. A pint of lager in most ...
