...Pas de la Casa, known to most as 'Pas', situated in Andorra a principality on the French/Spanish border. With no airport all holiday makers must fly to Toulouse and then endure a 3 hour coach ride to Andorra, but it's well worth it. Pas is the first resort you arrive at, being just 100 yards from the border crossing. The main town itself, consisting of shops, bars and some hotels, is situated at the bottom of the main slope, other hotels spread out either side of the valley, where skiing to your front door is easily possible. Buying a lift pass for Pas will also allow you to ski in the neighbouring resort of Grau Roig, all chair lifts and drag lifts close at 5:30 pm so ensure you are not in Grau Roig when they close as it will be an expensive taxi ride back to Pas. Advantages: Great location in a safe area of Old Havana, Great food & music

...El Meson de la Flota: Mercaderes b/ Amargura and Teniente Rey. Old Havana, Ciudad de La Habana, situated a few steps from the Old Square. La Meson de la Flota is found in a safe and renovated area of Old Havana. It is in fact more like a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel per se, but has the advantage of excellent food at reasonable prices (for tourist eating places - £10 for a lobster brochette, rice and salad - very filling and delicious) and live music every night with Cubano-Flamenco concerts. The drinks, especially Mojitos were great too and won't break the bank (£3-£4 each). The rooms have very high ceilings and are clean and newly painted, although the state of the bathroom lets the place down a bit, with a bit more wear and tear than I would expect in a hotel.
