...A Grand Time In Gran Canaria After a rather over-worked summer, and a few of my own personal problems I needed a good long break where I could forget the alarm clock and completely relax. My normal preferred holiday destination is Magaluf/Majorca, but I felt like going somewhere different, and this time not just for a lively holiday, but a more scenic holiday. All of my friends had been to Gran Canaria before and raved about it for ages, and when they suggested for me to come along with them this year, for a two week break, it was too good an offer to refuse. We booked our self-catering holiday with Thomas Cook as a holiday package - flights, holiday and transfers. The total cost of our two week holiday £380 each. ...away is a water park, you can also visit the Zoo which is famous for parrots. I have been to Gran canaria nearly every month of the year and it has only rained once and that was in May, it rained for 2 hours not bad for a holiday. Advantages of Gran cnaria: cheap prices for most items, including, fags, alcohol, cd players and perfume but remember you should barter with most shop keepers THIS IS A MUST. Disadvantages: Alcohol is cheap try to moderate what you drink, Taxi's are very cheap could make you Lazy. currently Airlines only fly to Gran Canaria certain days of the week however a new airline is starting to gran Canaria in Novemebr 2001 with prices from £129 return keep a look out for these fares. Advantages: gorgeous weather, plenty of things to do and see
Disadvantages: Place I stayed was full of cockroaches, beaches are too full & not that nice, people trying to force you into their restaurant.

...I went on holiday for 2 weeks in july 2004,self catering, in Gran Canaria with my Fiancee. We stayed at Vennesol bungalows in Maspalomas which was absolutely terrible. VENNESOL BUNGALOWS: We arrived ealy in the morning and were told to go to a bungalow which was right by a main road, we just went in and thought we would make the best of it, until........... THE 1ST ROOM: I was about to shut the curtains and a huge cockroach came running down towards me, it was really horrible! I screamed as I had never seen 1 of these things b4 in real life! Anyway we thought that would b the only 1 and went to bed, turned the lights out and we could her them behind the bed, I was so scared of them we had to get up and we found them all over the place. THE 2ND ROOM: We complained and were then moved to a new room which was also full... Read review
