I returned from holiday and faced a mountain of mail. Amongst the usual collection of bills and junk mail was an envelope from the Daily Telegraph with a pleasant surprise in it. A competition I had entered earlier in the year included a prize to win a weekend holiday break at a luxury hotel with the use of a top-of-the-range Honda Accord 2.2I V-Tec. No sooner back from one break and I could look forward to another.
A few days later I contacted Honda UK and set up the dates when we would have our break and which dealer would supply the car. The date was a month away and having arranged to put the kids in kennels (well grandparents look after them it’s about the same thing) we collected the Accord.

Those of you who read my review on 'Rebecca' will know that I am a big fan of Daphne Du Maurier's work.
Jamaica Inn is another of Ms Du Maurier's books that has paticular meaning to me as I have visited the actual 'Jamaica Inn' on Bodmin Moor.

It was in 1930 that Ms Du Maurier spent a night on the cold, dark and eerie Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. She had been out riding across the Moors with her friend,Foy Quiller-Couch, when a sudden dark fog came down and the couple found themselves lost on the bleak, foreboding moor. We can just imagine how they felt as she tells us that there were Bogs, quarries, brooks, boulders, hell on every side, we led the horses from the slippery track, and then got up on our saddles again; after several worrying hours lost on the moorland ...

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...
