The best Coffee on London!

Advantages: Excellent drinks, supported by good food, and good service
Disadvantages: A little expensive - but worth it!

...years ago, from the Seattle Coffee Company. This was subsequently taken over by Starbucks, and since then their coffee has gone down hill.

Coffee Republic are relatively new to the game and seem to be giving Starbucks a real run for their money. The coffee is much better - richer tasting and hotter, with less froth in their lattes.

I would also recommend their 'teazers' which are basically crushed ice with a mix of ginseng ... more

The Starbucks Generation.

Advantages: COFFEE!!
Disadvantages: Pricey coffee...

or so to read through the entire menu, but it was a very happy half hour for me, filled with excited anticipation. During this holiday in Vancouver, I would drag my parents into every Starbucks we passed and try a different coffee. I was determined to work my way round every branch in the city and every coffee on the menu. Unfortunately we were only there for a week, so I never acheived my aim (but I'm going back next summer so who knows?!). I spent the whole week buzzing, talking like I was trying to break a world record, and grinning inanely. But I was happy, oh was I happy. When I came back from this holiday I was devastated at the lack of Starbucks in my home town of Reading. It seemed to me that my Starbucks days were well and truly over. A Coffee Republic opened, and for a while I was satisfied, but every time I was in London I would ...

Review of Starbucks, Leeds

Laptop friendly coffee-house

Advantages: good coffee, plugs for laptops and mobile phones, comfy sofas, papers
Disadvantages: very, very, very expensive considering, bad food

I'm a bit of a coffee snob, which hasn't been helped by the influx of coffee shops in London, where I live. Starbucks, Coffee Republic, Costa Coffee and dozens of other smaller chains. When Starbucks first bought Seattle Coffee Company a couple of years back and started changing the decor, I thought they were tacky and very over-priced, particularly based on my experiences of the New York branches. These seemed to me like the McDonald's of coffee, not somewhere I'd think of grabbing a brew and chilling out. But...my opinions changed. Sure the food is still pretty bad, and extremely over-priced, but the coffee is priced comparably with other shops in London i.e. too high! The thing about Starbuck's that does it for me is the comfy sofas and most importantly the plethora of plug sockets at any of the shops with one of those large ...
