Coffee Republic are relatively new to the game and seem to be giving Starbucks a real run for their money. The coffee is much better - richer tasting and hotter, with less froth in their lattes.

Working in the city, regular boost of good quality caffine is essential. If first started to enjoy my 'grande skinny lattes' a couple of years ago, from the Seattle Coffee Company. This was subsequently taken over by Starbucks, and since then their coffee has gone down hill.

I would also recommend their 'teazers' which are basically crushed ice with a mix of ginseng and other stuff. I've only tried the mango flavour which is great on a hot day - but they also do other flavours.

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Starbucks, Leeds
Advantages: good coffee, plugs for laptops and mobile phones, comfy sofas, papers Disadvantages: very, very, very expensive considering, bad food
I'm a bit of a coffee snob, which hasn't been helped by the influx of coffee shops in London, where I live. Starbucks, CoffeeRepublic, Costa Coffee and dozens of other smaller chains. When Starbucks first bought Seattle Coffee Company a couple of years back and started changing the decor, I thought they were tacky and very over-priced, particularly based on my experiences of the New York branches. These seemed to me like the McDonald's of coffee, not somewhere I'd think of grabbing a brew and chilling out.
But...my opinions changed. Sure the food is still pretty bad, and extremely over-priced, but the coffee is priced comparably with other shops in London i.e. too high! The thing about Starbuck's that does it for me is the comfy sofas and most importantly the plethora of plug sockets at any of the shops with one of those large ...
