Ever since my first visit to Dawlish Warren several years ago, it has become one of my top destinations in the UK. If I had it my way, I would choose to spend every holiday in Devon. It truly is a beautiful place.
Unfortunately, people don't see the rest of what Cofton has to offer. The main camp is a caravan and chalet site. This may not sound appealing, but the area is very clean and has a great pool and restaurant on-site. However, I haven't stayed in this main area, and therefore cannot comment in too much detail.
However, as I mentioned above. There is more to Cofton than meets the eye. Around 5 minutes drive from the main camp, there is a set of three cottages. These are called 'Woodside'. The distance doesn't sound far, but it's far enough to take you out into the countryside.
The cottages are great. They are well equipped with DVD player, Freeview boxes, etc. They have also recently had the bathrooms renovated, and now have power showers. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms large and have a lot of character.
In the mornings, the view is beautiful. You can see out towards the harbour and sea, and each of the cottages has it's own outdoor seating area and private parking.
The kitchens do look a little dated, and come only with a very small freezer inside the fridge. The cookers take a long time to heat up, and the extraction fan was not working on my last visit. However, it does have microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier.
The location is great too, it's just 5 minutes from the main camp, and 5 minutes from Dawlish Warren amusements and the sea front.
The only downside to my last visit was a gas leak. However, after reporting this, Cofton had two engineers to my doorstep within around 15 minutes. Unfortunately, they were not able to fix the boiler and had to go the last two days without hot water - luckily the power shower was still able to provide hot water though.

Spent a very happy weekend at Dawlish on a hockey tour....I dont remember much of it as the wine and beer took over, however I did like Dawlish itself..... Live about an hour and a half from Dawlish.. Thanks. J.
