Lausanne - The Olympic Capital

Advantages: Great sports, great shops, breathtaking views, boat ride to Evian, calm and relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive trains, doesn't really cater for some food allergies such as coeliac

. A little further into the city is the Olympic Stadium. This hosts not only football but also athletics meetings. Lausanne-Sports are the local football team, and even before their season starts in mid-July, there are often matches in pre-season such as the recent tournament involving Auxerre and Galatasaray. If sport doesn't appeal to you, it doesn't matter. Lausanne caters for every different type of person. Not only a leading centre for sports, it is also a centre for shopping. Although Lausanne doesn't quite rival Milan in this category, it has some of the best shops in Switzerland. There is also the Musee historique de Lausanne (Historic Museum of Lausanne) which would appeal to keen historians and the Bejart Ballet in Lausanne caters for those interested in ballet dancing. 'Art Brut vs. Satan', the winner? You, the listener

Advantages: Harder, punkier sound, Eddie Argos' wit and frank honesty
Disadvantages: The times when Eddie Argos tries to tunefully sing

In the years of their existence, Art Brut and their singer Eddie Argos have always been indie outsiders. This seems quite appropriate for a band whose name is the French label given to the 'outsider art' movement. It's almost as if they are trying to dodge the mainstream appeal of their art-rock contemporaries. On the song 'Demon's Out' Argos out rightly states 'The record buying public shouldn't be voting' and laments the fact that 'nobody likes the music we write'. On the face of these bold statements you might not take an immediate liking to Argos and his songwriting, but it's his self-deprecation, humour ...

The Best Of De Niro? You Decide!

Advantages: Three of the best of De Niro's films
Disadvantages: One Lame movie, one turkey, and a confusing format issue

I'm sure few will dispute that over the last 30 years few actors have had a resounding and impressive screen presence than Robert De Niro. Although I believe of late he has lost his way slightly during the 70's, 80's, and 90's he was easily the guy at the top of the ladder. The Robert De Niro collection gathers 5 of his works together; unfortunately with these sort of collections the quality of work is impeded by the fact that the company releasing the box set is only offering the best of that actors movies from their stock catalogue. As a result although we have five films, four of which are very good but they are obviously not the five best movies of his career. Warner Brothers of whom have created this box set have included the following movie Heat, The Mission, This Boys Life, Goodfellas and City By The Sea. For the record if I ...
