We actually stayed in the Anex of Hotel Colombia that is called LOCANDA REMEDIO. You use the checkin of the Colombina, then they take you thru the back yard, DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU. You then enter the Anex climbing a stone stairway that opens into a Beautiful Salon, this is where you will have breakfast, superb compared with small breakfast room in the main Hotel. The staff come across in the morning and set the tables in the Salon. The rooms around the Salon vary in size, some quite small (This is Venice) but all encharting. Location, 100 yards from Saint Marks. Cost we usually get a Double with Breakfast in March for about £40 to £50 a night. 2008 cant wait.
Advantages: The view as you arrive. Disadvantages: The view as you depart.
. Toilet facilities are quite good. Ladies if there seems a Queue on the entrance in Baggage Control just go outside there is an entrance to toilets just the other side and normally no queue.
Now you have your bags what are the options if staying in Venice Itself, please do not try and save a few Euros by staying on the Lido, it is not as romantic and the time and cost of then Travelling into Venice will far exceed what you have Saved.

The cheapest option is to take the Local Bus which stops just outside departures to Piazza Roma Bus Station in Venice, this is at the end of the Grand Canal this costs about 2 Euros, tickets can be purchased at the Bus Booth inside arrivals.
When you arrive at Piazza Roma you may see a Guy in a Sailors Hat ...
