They're still a lot of German style houses and good german sausages. I have been told that the beer is good but since I dont drink I cant give a personal opinion on that one! After you meal I recoommend that you go on a trip through the hills where you will be able to identify landmarks ... more

As you go further up the road you will begin to appreciate three things not known in most parts of Venezuela - silence - coolness - and cleanliness - It is a real change.

If you prefer more sedate atractions you can browse through many shops in the town and pick up the gifts that you want to take home with you. Prices are reasonable and shopkeepers friendly...
If you prefer the heat, then continue down the road (if you dare) to the secluded beaches of Puerto Maya and Puerto Cruz. If you go at low season you will have the beach to yourself, but I do not recommend that you go at Carnival or Easter as the palce is packed. These beaches are really nice and the towns are old-style Venezuelan fishing villages.
