Reality is often in black and white. That's my sort of reality, at least. I remember all the pictures of colonial houses and buildings through old photographs, old black and white photographs. I can't even try and imagine them in colour. There has beena restoration of old shophouses along the waterfront for some time now, and I sometimes wonder, as I pass them, on the accuracy of the restoration. Was the red always such a rich shade, or was it always faded like that run down by time. It's hard to imagine one's past when colours are involved, since one was never there to partake of them from the beginning. With stone, it's easier. Stone is natural, paint, on the other hand, is not.
