...We have recently come back from a weekend away down in London. The trip was not purely a leisure break - although we did of course make the most of our time by perusing some of the sights in the capital. The main reason, however, for us going to London was so that my mum could attend a hospital appointment which was arranged for early on the Monday morning. Rather than travel down on the day and risk being late, we decided to travel down by train on the Saturday and make a long weekend of it. The hospital my mum attends is near Harrow, in Middlesex.
After searching online for hotels in the local area, we came across the ComfortInn hotel, which is located 5-10 minutes walk from Northwick Park underground station (on the Metropolitan Line). This was ideal as it was just a short walk away from the hospital, Northwick Park and St. Marks...

...of the landscaped garden.
The Holiday Inn Kensington is located in the heart of London, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The hotel is located on a busy Londonroad and a 2minute walk away from Gloucester road underground station. Holiday Inn offers easy accessibility to all the major London attractions including High Street Kensington, Natural History Museum, London Eye, Albert Hall and Harrods. The hotel also offers a direct link to Heathrow airport via the Piccadilly line and the M4 and A4 are easily accessible.
I would recommend this hotel a great deal. It can get booked up quite quickly. A very nice and friendly hotel.

Advantages: Convenient method of transport, frequent trains, Easy to get around Disadvantages: Signal Failures, Broken Trains and Heat!
...to operate a generally poor service and the trains are in desperate need of upgrading. Many of the stations are falling apart and the general atmosphere on this line is glum.
The control centre for the District Line is located at Earls Court, and all trains on the line pass through here. Earls Court also provides a link to the Piccadilly Line.
Perhaps surprisingly, the District Line operates two different types of train. The main line services run D stock trains. The branches that run to EdgwareRoad and Olympia run C type trains. Don’t ask me what the difference is because I don’t know, but I thought it was quite remarkable that one line is capable of running two different types of rolling stock.
○ Fact: The District Line covers a distance of 40 miles!
