Advantages: Cater for all people Disadvantages: Sometimes a bit too pricey
...Having spent three nights at the Newcastle under Lyme ComfortInn I thought that I would give a quick review.
My wonderfull husband decided to add a couple of extra days to the holiday we had already booked, to have a few days away with our youngest two children before collecting the other two in Hastings. He is always rumaging through the papers for 'deals' and found one for the Choice Hotel group of which Comfort, Quality, Sleep Inn (new to UK) and Clarion all belong. We managed to get 3 nights at £50 a night dinner bed and breakfast for the four of us (2 kids were free sharing the room although you were supposed to pay for meals). After struggling to find one in the area we wanted to go to as they were booked very quickly at this price we found newcastle under Lyme.
The girls on the phone were very helpful (except forgetting...

...When we first arrived at Lake Louise Inn we immediately got an impression of the mayhem that would follow...
We arrived late at night, and due to some confusion with an upgrade we had made were sent to the wrong room by a bemused night porter. There were five of us- the room we were sent to had only two beds...? Two of our party returned to reception to try to sort out the problem whilst the other three of us huddled in the doorway of the wrong room trying to escape the freezing conditions.
Whilst waiting we got talking to a young Canadian man who had got locked out of his room in just a t-shirt and trousers. Advantages: Helpful staff, good facilities, large comfy rooms Disadvantages: A little bit far away from the city centre.
...My weekends away with the girlies always have to be cheap affairs, so we usually end up staying in some dodgy B&B on Brighton seafront or the back roads of Great Yarmouth, but when I was booking our trip to Newcastle, I stumbled upon the Holiday Inn website, and bagged us a right bargain!
The price
We booked on the Internet a standard double room, which slept up to 4 people in 2 double beds. The cost of this room per night was £54.50. Which works out to about £14.00 each per night! Cheaper than most B&B's!
When we arrived at the Holiday Inn though, the price of this room was advertised as £155.00 per room per night. We queried this, and were told that our rate was the Internet rate, and as such we saved £100.00 per night!
So please, if any of you ever need to book a Holiday Inn, do so on the Internet and save yourself...
