Advantages: In the centre of London, great breakfast, fairly good value Disadvantages: Tired decor, noisy water pipes, poor TV channel choice
...Just got back from a lovely weekend in London and stayed at the the Washington Hotel in Mayfair. Do I reccommend this hotel - well it is good value. I booked direct from their website and it cost £89 plus VAT including full breakfast for two. This is for a 4 star hotel in the heart of London. The foyer is nice, clean, spacious and welcoming and check in was without any hassle. Our room was clean, but the decor in the room was tired. Some chips on the furniture, scuffs on the walls and skirting board and the bathroom needed a really deep clean. I'm also a bit of a satellite TV fand there was only Sky News, CNN and some Indian channels, plus the normal 5 terrestrial channels. Even though Sky Sports was promoted in the room literature it wasn't there, so rather disappointing.
The bed was comfortable, but it took a while to get...

Advantages: Seamless flying experience Disadvantages: Expensive to shop and eat here!
...to actually leaving the airport, it only took us about 20 minutes from leaving the plane to getting outside.
Transport to the city:
There are several way that you can get from Copenhagen airport into the city taxi, bus or train. Teh bus and train services are very efficient and run every two or three minutes right into the heart of the city for a minimal cost of under £5. As the Centre of Copenhagen is less than 15 minutes drive away from the airport we opted for the simpler and lazy excuse of using a taxi! When we got outside there were literally hundreds of taxis waiting and our driver spoke very good English. The taxi fare to our hotel (Marriott Copenhagen) took approximately 15 minutes and cost about £15 so not bad value for money.
Departure:
After our holiday we again returned to terminal three of the airport by taxi which...

Advantages: A pleasant place to stay whilst visiting the beautiful Disadvantages: Cost
...I was so excited about going to Copenhagen that I never really gave much thought to the hotel because that's my dad's department! He sorts out all our flights and accommodation when we go on holiday (and he always does a good job too!) So when he said we were going to stay in a Marriott hotel, I just trusted his judgement and focused all my excitement on what we were going to do once we got to Copenhagen.
The Copenhagen Marriott (has 5 stars)
********************************************
The hotel has 11 floors and over 300 rooms. (I think we were on the 3rd floor - not that it would matter as there are lifts!) It also has a number of suites. (Unfortunately we just stayed in a standard room with 2 double beds. But it was nice all the same!) It is situated on the riverfront (and we were lucky enough to have a water facing view...

For some reason, I booked a week's holiday to Brussels. On my own. It should be stated straight away that I didn't have a great holiday, but I'll try not to let that influence my views of the hotel itself.
